UCCF Training Weekend (and stuff)

Well, that was a pretty good weekend! It was very challenging. The speaker (I’m afraid I only know his name was “John”, didn’t catch the surname! Sorry!) was very good, and there were good times of fellowship both in the main group and in the small groups that we were in. I think all of us that went on the weekend (me, Sheri, Louise, Matthew and Esther) have come away with some good ideas and have been challenged to do more evangelism in the CU!

One thing that really struck me is that evangelism isn’t something that should be done in addition (in some cases, almost a poor second) to what the CU “normally” does. Evangelism should be an integral part of everything that the CU does: we grow in maturity as Christians through evangelism:

“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”

Philemon 1:6

Notice the “so that”. Firstly we share our faith, then we have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ… pretty cool stuff!

So yeah, good weekend, challenging but hopefully the CU are going to share our vision of evangelism. This time last year we made a few changes which has lead to doing tower evangelism three times a term; hopefully this time we’re going to get more going on!
