Well, we had a fairly busy week last week. The bathroom has now been painted, so that’s all done. The main thing that’s left to do is get the flooring in, which we will hopefully be able to do soon. But anyway, I digress: I should talk about the weekend!
On Friday night we stayed in and watched “Ocean’s 13″. It was a much better film than Ocean’s 12 – it hung together much better. I didn’t think it was quite as good as Ocean’s 11, but it was close – not bad for a sequel!
On Saturday we did a bit of shopping in the morning, and then in the afternoon we headed down to London to meet up with Elisa, Alex, Phil P and Esther for Elisa’s birthday meal. We went to Wagamama’s in Covent Garden. It was my first time at a Wagamama’s, and I really enjoyed it! I had a curry which was mild, but absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
On Sunday we went to church in the morning, and then came back home for lunch. Afterwards we went round to Anne-Marie’s to have a bit of a jamming session (Anne-Marie is learning to play bass guitar, so I took my guitar and Phil took her clarinet). Then we watched another episode of “Life on Mars”. In the evening we went to the Sunday@6 prayer meeting (less than a week to go now! Scary stuff), and then headed back into Wivenhoe for a meal at the Bengal Spice. The meal was as tasty as they always are there, so I can continue to recommend it ;)
So it was a rather pleasant weekend, all in all! This week is shaping up to be less busy – now that the Moore Course has finished and we’re on a break from home group, we don’t have much to do in the evenings. Not that I’m complaining – might give me a bit more of a chance to practice the guitar!

Last week was fairly uneventful! As I mentioned in my last post, we basically spent the week doing decorating our bedroom. We’d painted the walls last year, but the skirting boards were in dire need of painting (I don’t think they’d been painted in years), and we needed to tidy up a few things, i.e. some of the corners and the window ledge. So that’s what we did! It was a tougher job than it sounds because we had to move all the furniture around: unfortunately we couldn’t move everything out of the room because we just don’t have space!
Still, we managed to get it all done and the room looks great now. We did have a few distractions from decorating though, we went round to my parents’ on Thursday night to have dinner. At the weekend we managed to relax a bit more – on Saturday evening we went to the Royal Albert Hall to see prom 59: Rachmaninov’s 3rd Piano Concerto, Sibelius’ 1st Symphony and a new piece ‘Seht Die Sonne’ by Magnus Lindberg.
Without a doubt the Rachmaninov was my favourite piece of the evening – beautifully played by Nikolai Lugansky, and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. The Sibelius was also lovely, although I wasn’t too sure about the Lindberg piece. All told it was a good evening, despite not getting in until about 12:30AM!
On Sunday we went to church in the morning, and then in the afternoon went out for a walk around Wivenhoe. We took the riverside path towards Alresford, and managed to end up in Thorrington Scout Camp! The scout camp was where a few CU House Parties were held, quite memorable times. It was quite surprising to be there again because we hadn’t expected to go that far! (And Alex, if you’re reading this, if we ever have to walk from Wivenhoe to the Scout Camp again I’ll know the way. And it doesn’t require almost getting run over when walking through a quarry).
Afterwards we popped in to the Bengal Spice for a delicious curry, before heading back home.
Today it’s back to work as usual, so I’d better start doing some…

It’s been a fairly busy weekend, once again! On Friday, I spent the evening sanding down the radiator in our bedroom (what fun!) to prepare it for painting. On Saturday, I spent most of the day painting the last wall in our bedroom which needed to be painted… it took a long time, but I think the fruits of our labour are paying off! It now looks much better than the mushroomy kind of colour which was in there before. The room feels a bit bigger, certainly a lot fresher.
On Saturday evening we went round to Wivenhoe for Alison’s birthday do. Matthew has already written about it, so there’s no need for me to re-iterate what he said! The only thing to add is, I was “Derek the Decorator” and Phil was “Brenda”… it was slightly unimaginative as I’d been decorating all day, but still!
Yesterday, we went to church in the morning for the family service and then came back home to finish off the decorating. Then we had lunch, didn’t do much for the afternoon, and then went to the Bengal Spice in the evening for dinner! It was delicious, as always. Afterwards we came back and watched Top Gear, it was a really good episode this week :-)
And… that’s all for the time being!
