Twittering

So, in the past couple of months lots of people seem to have got into Twitter. Specifically, Simon and Alex. People who advocate Twitter seem to think that you can’t criticise it unless you’ve actually used it.

I could never see the point of it, but today I decided that if I was going to criticise, I should at least spend a while trying it out. So I’ve signed up for a Twitter account – you can find me here.

I don’t really know what the point is yet, but then again this blog doesn’t really have a point either and I still do that. I’d consider adding a gadget to this blog with my latest twitter updates, but actually that might cause the site to collapse into a void of pointlessness, so perhaps that wouldn’t be a good idea!

  1. I see you’re following the herd by following Stephen Fry 🙂

  2. Yeah, well, I found out about it through his blog 🙂 I might stop following him at some point if it’s boring.

  3. I never really bothered with Stephen Fry – it was more Neil Gaiman/general interest that pulled me over.

Personally I find it good as it offers a blog entry that builds through the day – some more bits are gonna be blog only (that reminds me need to upload some bits). It’s also quite interesting just seeing what people are doing (and if you have the stuff you can update from pretty much anywhere anytime…)

Something that might make your experience easier is Twhirl – I use the Windows version but I think there is a Linux version out there – this gives you the ability to Tweet (and read others Tweets) in a more instant messenger kind of interface.

Finally – a good Tweet to follow is the Mark Kermode/Simon Mayo Film thoughts – wittertainment – you may need to listen to the podcast to get the most out of it but they seem to be enjoying themselves in updating to this.

Let me know how you find things and feel free to drop me a few Tweets – I’ve already sent you a welcome 😉
