Day: 22 February 2003

  • And on the seventh day…

Well technically this isn’t the seventh day, because I started it in the small hours of Sunday morning last week. But I class it as seventh day so there you go 🙂

Not much happened today apart from my radio show, followed by the CU Mix… exciting stuff or what! That took out three hours of my day… then I came home… then I haven’t done much since…

It’s a hard life! This evening I’m going out to see “Catch Me if You Can” or something like that. The one with Leo DiCaprio (my favourite Italian director) being a con-man. Or something. Not usually a fan of Leo, but having said that “The Beach” wasn’t actually too bad.

I’ll let you know my review when I get back 😉

  • “Cheesy” Tunes, Eh?

I will admit that I do regularly go out on a Friday night to an event called, “Cheesy Tunes.” They play cheesy music, you have a good laugh, it’s a good time. But the problem is, if they don’t play cheesy music…

Now, cheese just isn’t my kind of thing for listening to. As you will know if you’ve been reading these things, I’m a dance kind of person… I like trance music. And in general you’ll find me campaigning against the cheesy dance crap that’s coming out nowadays. But cheese — proper cheese — is good for relaxing to. You can sing along to it, it’s mindless, you can have a laugh. However, just recently they’ve been playing a LOT of r’n’b.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against r’n’b per se… it’s just the environment. If it was “r’n’b” tunes I wouldn’t have any problem with the night. But it’s not. And r’n’b isn’t cheese, it’s commercial and perhaps modern cheese, but it’s just not the same. Basically there’s one way of dancing to it, and that’s it. You can’t really just relax to it… this is where the problem comes in.

I think they ought to play more cheese and cheesy tunes and scrap the r’n’b. In fact, I may well send an email to Ents telling them so… they claim that by playing newer (r’n’b) type stuff they’re catering for a younger audience. Yeah right. Last year it was great…

Anyway, I’d better end the rant before I go on too long. It was just good to vent for a while 😉
