Today’s photo features a number of circles. We recently moved into a house we’re renting, and the landlords have left us an old style phone 🙂

I think it’s kind of cool. This is similar (if not the same) as the phone at the Chappell Railway Museum which I took about six months ago.

Well this is a green umbrella plant which I’ve had for a while now, I think it’s done well!

  • Project 365 – intermission (sort of)

I thought I’d better update to say that, frustratingly, due to a house move project 365 will probably be on a bit of an intermission for the next 3 days (until it finishes…) – I’m typing this on 3G, which is fine for small things but I’m not sure how easy it will be to upload photos.

Anyway, I will upload the final few photos when we have the internet here properly!

Well, one thing I think I’ve always been amazed at is how intricate nature is. This is a photo of a sedum flower with a bee, as well as a ladybird (or ladybug, I think, if you’re American).

I’m afraid I’m having to inflict my face on you again today. I didn’t think this one came out too badly, even though I did have to assume a slightly strange position to take the photo!

Not sure whether this exactly emphasizes the horizon but still.

  • Too much going on!

I’m afraid I’ve been a bit lax updating recently. We’ve been back from the Isle of Wight for several days now, and I still haven’t posted up about our time there! This is due to a number of factors which will become clear.

Anyway, here’s a quick summary of our time there:

Sunday – I was doing the talk at the All-age service that morning, which seemed to go well. After that we went straight down to Portsmouth to catch the ferry over to the island. Then it was a 30 minute drive down to St Lawrence, where we were staying. We were met by Phil’s parents, and we had a nice dinner together and chilled for the rest of the evening.

Monday – we all went for a walk around Freshwater, which was beautiful.

Tuesday – we went to Quarr abbey in the morning, a really interesting place, then went for a bit of a wander in the afternoon.

Wednesday – we went for a walk up on Tennyson down, which was beautiful. We also stopped off at the old Rocket testing site opposite the Needles, which I had no idea even existed. Apparently the Black Knight rockets were tested there before firing them at Woomera during the cold war. In the evening we went to a concert at a church in Ventnor, we heard some Bach and Saint-Saens (no idea if I’ve spelt that right!) and a few other pieces. Lovely.

Thursday – visited the Ventnor botanic gardens and wandered into Ventnor. In the evening we had a mini birthday celebration for me, and I was given a new watch 🙂 It’s a Citizen “Eco-Drive” which is a solar powered model. Apparently it can run off its battery for up to six months without charging.

Friday – come home 🙁 In the evening we watched ‘Submarine’, a film by Richard Ayoade (Moss from The IT Crowd), which was fantastic. Very well written and directed comedy, some very poignant moments towards the end but some hilarious moments too.

So that pretty much sums up our holiday. Now, a quick round-up of the weekend (trust me, not long to go now…)

Saturday – it was my birthday / our leaving BBQ. There were a good number of people there over the course of the afternoon including Dan and Ali, Alex, AJ and Jen, Anne-Marie, Sarah, Tim and Katie, Kevin, and our next-door-neighbours Paul and Mary. It was a lovely sunny afternoon, too – I had been a bit worried after it raining all morning! I think it went well and everyone had a good time. I certainly did anyway. Afterwards Alex helped us clear up (thanks Alex!) and we watched a few random YouTube videos before bed.

Sunday – the main thing we did was go to Tim and Katie’s for our home group send off (so to speak). We had dinner with our home group members and basically said goodbye to them. Afterwards we came back home and crashed out a bit!

So that’s it. *phew* that was a long update! Still. This week we’re mainly packing and getting things ready for moving next Monday. It’s a bit scary but at the same time, quite exciting! Also, clearing through your old stuff and getting rid of lots you don’t need is strangely satisfying.

As I’m sure you’ll understand, updates might be a bit thin on the ground over the next few days (not least because when we move, we won’t have the internet straight away. Sadly I missed the window for getting the phone and broadband transferred at the same time, so we will have to wait 5-10 days for the internet. Doh.) And, obviously, when I start at college updates may change a little to that of a more theological nature – to reflect what I’m learning. But then again, they may not. We’ll see.

I’m signing off now anyway. Phill out.

This is the back of a spoon, which is fairly smooth. I haven’t done one of these photos before so wanted to try it. Need to work on it more methinks, maybe with a slightly less curved spoon (i.e. maybe one which doesn’t show me taking the photo…), but still!
