  • Blogging – from a phone

Well, apparently Simon can blog from his mobile phone now. I can’t possibly think of a feature that would be more useful than that… I mean, who wouldn’t want to post a 160 character to their blog on the train on the way to work?

I wouldn’t… guess that makes me a freak or something! (And also, I wouldn’t use a mobile phone whilst driving…)

Anyway. Not much to report today. So I won’t! Ha! That fooled you didn’t it? Yeah. I’ll get me coat.

  • Joe’s got a website!

Wow – Joe’s got a website! Unfortunately it has nothing to do with ‘Mighty’, ‘Mullet’ or ‘Moose’, but I’ll forgive him that… go check it out 🙂

  • The Weekend (or half of it)

Well, I didn’t do much on Saturday. Yesterday was pretty busy! I went to church in the morning. After lunch, I went to Colchester and helped out with the CU Mix. Then I went round to chat to Julian (Anglican Chaplain at the UoE) for a bit. Then I picked Philippa up from the station, dropped her stuff off at her house, then we went round to Alex’s for chillout night. We watched ‘City of Angels’… not the best film that I’ve ever seen, but it was OK!

And then I came home, and I’m back at work today… fun fun fun!

  • More blog fun…

Yes, more blog fun! I’ve added another feature – you can now have multiple users. Unfortunately a prerequisite of that is you have a MySQL database. I could store the info in a password file, but I thought that would be less secure (although the passwords are encrypted, I’d still rather people couldn’t actually see the encrypted versions).

I think the next step is actually making a version of this blog system which can be setup by someone with or without a MySQL database, i.e. by setting options on installation. That won’t require a significant amount of re-coding, just the difference between updating a database and password file.

Oh, and I also updated the counter – now it hopefully should only count you once per session! I figured out that sessions problem I was having.

    Bring it on!

  • Student 1 – Microsoft 0

Well, well, well, three holes in the ground… it seems that Microsoft has retracted its lawsuit against a student, for selling a copy of Microsoft Windows and Office XP on eBay. Have a read of the story on The Register. My favourite bit is:

“Microsoft has suffered and will continue to suffer substantial and irreparable damage to its business reputation and goodwill as well as losses in an amount not yet ascertained,” it said. “Defendant’s acts of copyright infringement have caused Microsoft irreparable injury.”

Poor Microsoft, suffering irreparable damage from someone selling a copy of XP… read the story for the excellent response!

  • More work on the comments system!

Well, I’ve update the comments system, so that you can now post comments on the archives. You can also disable comments for the site and the archives 🙂

So if any of you start abusing the comments system, not only can I delete the comment, I can disable comments 😉

All I need to do now is to make a web-based management console… hmmm…

  • Poverty

I was watching the news today, and saw that there were a bunch of leaders gathered about the whole world debt / poverty thing, and saw that Bob Geldof was one of them.

Maybe he could release a new song… “(Tell me why) I don’t like World Debt…” 😉

    Um, yeah. Anyway.

  • Proof for the Providence of God

I’ve just found a great quote on Joe’s website. Well, actually it’s Joe’s quote, but – well, it’s all semantics, isn’t it? Anyway, I shall let the beauty of the words speak for themselves:

those of you who don’t believe in the providence of God then chew on this … The West Wing Complete Series 5 comes out on DVD the day before my birthday

Inspiring stuff 😉 All we need now is for People Like Us Series 2 to come out on DVD the day before my birthday, and the circle will be complete. If that happens, God definitely exists… well, he does even if it doesn’t happen, but it would be nice (hint hint). Anyway…

  • Cold is almost gone…

The cold I mentioned a few days ago has almost gone… hopefully! That means that I should be off this evening to Colchester to see Philippa, I think we’re going to the Lakeside Theatre to see a Monty Python play. It should be good 🙂

Anyway, I didn’t have any reason to update, aside from the fact that it means I’ll have another archive after this (for March)… oh, the fun!

  • Back to work!

Well, it’s back to work today! I’m not feeling particularly brilliant, but nevermind. That’s always how it is after you’ve had a cold – there always seem to be a recuperation period equal to the amount of time that you had the cold in the first place!

Anyway. I don’t have anything particularly exciting to say here. I found a really good website yesterday, though, Sheet Music Archive — lots of freely downloadable classical sheet music! Good stuff 🙂

    Anyway, that’s all for now…
