This is a gas canister not far from where I work. I think it’s just been dumped there, and it makes quite a contrast to the surrounding grass and shrubs etc. That said, it is orange!

  • Busy busy busy…

It looks like June is going to be a busy month for us: we’re sorting out the forms for where we’re going to live next year, we’re sorting out our house for next year (mortgage and so on), we’re sorting out finance forms for next year, and on top of that I have two or three talks to prepare! Fun fun fun!

So, given all that, I’m going to do a very quick update about the past few days: Friday night – 21. Saturday: shopping in the morning, then in the evening AM and Sarah came round and we watched Doctor Who (much better episode this week, by the way). Then we had some delicious birthday cake, made by Sarah’s own fair hand. (Or hands.)

Sunday – church. Then Phil went down to our friend Laura’s hen party. I went to church in the evening, and then came back and chilled out with some TV. On Monday I went over to see my parents, mainly to help my Mum set up a new laptop. In the evening Phil was back, and we watched “The Other Guys” together – not the best film I’ve ever seen, but still.

Right, that’s pretty much it from me. Despite the busyness I do have some thoughts on jokeless comedies I want to share at some point… I will write about that soon!

I’m not sure what kind of metal this is, but it’s part of the stand of a lamp we bought last year. I’ve always wanted to take a picture of it, and today was the perfect opportunity!

Well, I thought these two ducks looked quite interesting. (And they are central…) They look like they’re having a sort of duck conversation!

This is part of the wooden floor in our house. I do like wooden floors, I think they age well and they make the house nice and light. Bit cold in winter though.

I thought these peonie flowers would fit the bill! I’ve been wanting to take a picture of them for afew days now. In bright sunshine they virtually glow!

Well I had to take a photo of all these buttercups around – there were hundreds of them!

  • A weekend of Joy

Last Friday we didn’t have 21 because of the Joy event happening on Saturday. As Laura was coming up for the weekend, we invited her and AJ round for dinner (Jen was working unfortunately) and we had a nice evening together.

On Saturday we went shopping in the morning, then in the afternoon did a few bits and pieces that needed doing. Then we headed over to Fordham for the Joy event. I spent most of the first half of the evening DJing – it was great fun! I was using someone else’s CD decks and my old 90s and noughties trance CDs. I think people generally appreciated it (particularly the leaders of about my age!), and it was great fun to be back on the decks again. Anyway, the rest of the evening went pretty well too – AJ did a good talk, and I think people looked like they were having fun!

Anyway. On Sunday we went to church in the morning, and then afterwards headed over for the Cansdale’s leaving do. They had a hog roast, it was brilliant! And made me anticipate the beer festival coming up in a couple of weeks 😉 After that we headed out to Sunday@6, and after that came back home and caught up with this week’s Doctor Who.

I have to admit, I didn’t like this week’s Doctor Who quite so much. It was written by Matthew Graham (half of the team behind Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes), and unfortunately I just couldn’t really get into it. The plot was good but it just seemed a bit random and disconnected to me. I couldn’t quite get into the story. It kind of reminded me of how my mind sometimes goes when I’m excited: flitting between different things without any particular connection between them. (I can’t be the only one who does that… Please tell me I’m not the only one who does that 😉

Anyway. There you have it. That was our weekend! The only thing remaining for me to say is that we now have a house for next year! I rang up the Estate Agents earlier and paid our holding deposit. So that’s exciting 🙂 More on that story later…

As far as I can tell, a vista is just a nice view! So this is a nice view, I think 🙂 Taken of the Chelmer, similar to views I’ve done before I know!
