  • The old site is no more!

The old site is no more! I have removed it, and replaced it with this new one now that everything is working.

The only thing that I have still to do is upload the old blog archives… I think I might just put it in mooseofming.co.uk/blog/archive or something. At least I’ve been posting on here for long enough so that it’s not like there’s a sudden lack of posts, there is a bit of an archive here.

Oh, and my cold is now much better, I’m feeling a bit more normal, thanks for asking…

  • I don’t like colds 🙁

I’ve had a cold coming on now for about the past three months… I don’t like winter! Anyway, it seems to have finally come out today. Typical… still, hopefully when this goes I’ll feel better, it might be a catalyst to this cold actually going!

Not a particularly exciting weekend for me, then…

Strangely enough, this post didn’t get put at the top last time. I wonder if it’ll work this time!

  • Comments system is now working

The comments system is now working! Just one or two things to finish off (like templates, for example, and comments on archived posts). Other than that — I’m happy 🙂

I bet no-one will ever use a comments sytem, but still… at least it’s there!

  • Blog Updates!

Sharp-eyed readers might have noticed a new addition to the blog — comments! But don’t get too excited just yet — you can’t use them at the moment. In fact, if you click on the comments link, absolutely nothing happens…

The main work I’ve been doing on the blog goes on behind the scenes. I’ve basically transferred to a template system, i.e. you define a template for a blog entry which is then used for all the blog entries. I don’t really know why I’m doing this, I think I’m going to be the only one who ever uses this!

I guess that’s what working in a software house does to you — you start getting the mentality of a software developer. If you can do it, and add more features, then do it! Hmmm…

  • Counter working!

I’ve finally got my counter working! Yay! I’m afraid I had to take a few liberties with the Crossring account (well, I set up a MySQL database on it) but seeing as I’m the only one who’s paid for it at the moment, I didn’t think that was a bad temporary solution! Especially as I only get about three hits a year.

It’s March tomorrow… doesn’t feel like it at the moment, it’s so cold. I really hope that it gets warmer soon. I don’t mind it being cold as such, but at this time of year you feel that it ought to be getting warmer, not colder!

Ah well… I’m off to bed. Night!

  • Tonight only: Matthew on Lust

Sorry about that title, but this morning in the Anglican Chaplaincy Matthew preached about lust! So I felt I had to take the opportunity to have that as a title somewhere 🙂

Anyway. I haven’t really done much exciting. At work I was busy, so not much happened there… I’m writing this in Colchester. I came down to Colchester yesterday, and went for lunch with Philippa and her parents. We went to the Black Buoy, and I had a late breakfast — I highly recommend it, it was lovely!

In the afternoon we stayed in and didn’t do much, then in the evening we went to the African / Nigerian evening in the chaplaincy. It was good, we learnt a bit more about Nigerian culture – not to mention having some really nice food!

Anyway, today we went to the chaplaincy service in the morning (as you probably will have gathered), then had lunch in the SU Bar, before doing the ‘Phil Show’ and CU Mix on university radio. All good fun!

Don’t think there’s much else to say, so… um… au revoir!

  • How to waste a few minutes of your time!

Step one: visit this website. Step two: enjoy 🙂

Anyway, um, not much else to say… been busy at work… out to a house group this evening, my church is doing 40 Days of Purpose so I’m doing the house group that goes along with it.

Anyway, um, yeah… that’s all folks!

  • *sigh*…

There’s so much I’d like to do with PHP, unfortunately getting it to work with Fedora Core seems to be … well, tricky. It’s just a matter of setting all the permissions!

I wrote a generic XML parser type thing for this blog system which I want to try and port across to Crossring. Unforunately, it’s difficult to do when you can’t test in a non-live environment! And, of course, I don’t think doing computer type stuff for a living helps… it means that it’s not your favourite thing to do outside of work hours!

Still, at least I’ve got this blog system working, that’s one thing. Step by step we’re moving forward, little by little we’re taking ground, every prayer a powerful wea — doh!!!

  • Busy!

I was busy at work today! There are only three of us in the office this week, or at least for the most part it’s just the three. Quite how we’re coping I don’t know, but we’re doing it somehow! One good thing about it is that I now feel much more part of the company, rather than just ‘the new guy’. Or even, ‘the graduate’!

I’ve got just way too much today… still, at least if ever I feel like I’ve got too much on, I can just look at how much Simon’s doing and breath a sigh of relief that I’m not him! 😉

  • Using Internet Explorer?

Are you using Internet Explorer? Do you wonder why this page doesn’t look right (i.e, there’s no menu bar on the right hand side where there should be one)?

Don’t blame me, Blame Microsoft. It’s all their fault :-p
