  • The Weekend

Well some of it at least. Yesterday I spent at home doing some work. I’ve now nearly finished the final year project deliverable that has to be in this Wednesday. I still have CC257 to do (I think I’ve done most of it), but that can quite easily be done later or tomorrow.

Then, after working yesterday, Andy H and Lindsey came round and we watched “X-Men 2”. That was actually quite a good film, well — relative to the first one at least!

So today, I’m not doing much. Bring on the revolution…

  • Yesterday

Was a good day to die. But I didn’t. I went onto campus for my class at 12:00, then I met up with Philippa for lunch, then I did some work, then I went to my Java lab, then I came home with Alex, then we watched the League of Gentlemen Christmas Special, then we went onto campus for Cheesy Tunes.

    So now you know 🙂

  • Why did the one-armed monkey fall out of the tree?…

… because I waved at him.

Yesterday, I came onto campus for my 12:00 final year project lecture. That was great fun! Oh yes. (Actually, it wasn’t that bad… I just realised how much work I have to do before I hand in the next deliverable on Wednesday…) Then I met up with Philippa and Alex, and we went into town to see The Matrix Revolutions.

My thoughts regarding the film… I think it was certainly a cut above some of the rubbish that they’re putting out these days. Whilst I think they could have done it slightly better, maybe answered some more questions, explored some more issues, I think that as a film it was fantastic and I will certainly be buying it when it comes out on DVD. The special effects were amazing! And both Alex’s and Anne-Marie’s theories turned out to be right and wrong in various places. Still, I’ll leave the theorising until the DVD comes out, when I can watch it again and see what is actually said.

Then, we went to McDonalds as a group. Then Philippa and I headed off home. Well to her place, actually. We waited for a while for the bus, but then decided it would be just as quick to actually walk so we did. Then we went onto campus, had a drink for a while, and then I headed off home and did my CC257 Assignment. Liz is staying around at our place for a few days, she’s coming on the house party this weekend. That’s cool 🙂

Anyway. Today, I came onto campus for committee at 12:00, then had a prayer triplet at 2:00, then came into a computer lab to do some work, met up with Alex and Philippa in Mondo, then back into a computer lab to do some more work and write this blog.

So, I’d better get on with me ol’ final year project. Work Breakdown Structures? No problem. Let’s off-road!

  • Yet Another Day

So. This morning, I wakes up. I gets onto campus for 10:00 where I meets up with Philippa, Alex and Joe for the bar breakfast. I goes for my meeting with my project supervisor. I goes to do some work in a computer lab. I goes to my lecture at 1:00. I gets out and does some work for a couple hours, then goes to Mondo with Philippa and her friend Nic. I then goes to Sizzlers, then CU. Then I watches “The Matrix Reloaded” with a bunch of other peoples in the LCR on a big screen (projector).

    It’s beens ans interestings days.

I have a new theories about Reloaded / Matrix, but I can’ts be bothereds to types it nows.

    I oughtta slugs yous…

  • This weekend

Well, the second half of it anyway. Yesterday I went to Church in the morning. Then I came back, had lunch, prepared my Fusion group, and chatted to AndyB on the phone for a while. Then Philippa came round, and we watched “Monty Python’s Meaning of Life.” Then Alex got back (he’d gone home for the weekend) and we ordered a pizza and watched “Zoolander.” Not realyl an exciting day, but still…

Today, I came in for chaplaincy lunch at 1:00. Then I went to my Computer Vision lecture at 2:00 (fantastically exciting stuff), then I wasted time for 45 minutes, then came down to a computer lab to do some work and have spent the remainder of the time trying to avoid doing any.

I’m going round to Philippa’s this evening for a little while, then I’ll go to Tesco and go back to ours for our “lad’s night.” We’ll be watching “Die Hard with a vengeance” — the well-known classic which I love for its beautifully intricate and complicated philosophical exploration of our primitive instincts: blow them all up with a huge freakin’ gun.

    Have fun…

  • Ah well

No updates yesterday! What a shame. Let me fill you in: I went onto campus for my class at 12:00. I met up with Philippa for lunch. I did some work. I hung around a bit, waiting for film night. I had a drink with Andy H. I went to the film night. Well actually, I helped set up the technical stuff. We were watching “Rat Race”, an absolutely fantastic film 🙂

Then today, I went onto campus for my radio show. Then I met up with Philippa for a drink, then came back home, then straight back out again to see the Reduced Shakespeare Company. There were absolutely brilliant, one of the best comedy performances I have ever seen 🙂 Fantastic stuff. I will definitely go and see them again if I ever get the opportunity! Thoroughly recommend them to anyone.

Anyway. I came back to discover my computer wasn’t working… well, long story short, I’ve got it working again. Something is wrong, but I’m just not sure what it is. All the trouble I went to, and I could have just done something simple! As a temporary thing, that is. Strange.

Oh well, it is late and I have to get to bed, so I shall update you later…

  • So, no work today then…

… unless you count committee as work! I came in for committee. Then met up with Philippa and went into town to meet Paul and Becca for lunch at the Playhouse. That was good.

Then we went into town… I bought a couple of bits, including “Monty Python’s And Now for Something Completely Different” on DVD — buy one get one free! (Phil bought “Labrynth”…)

And then Paul gave us a lift back, and I’m currently sitting in a computer lab with Phil waiting for Theology seminar. After theology, I’m going to go to puddings evening (the latest thing the CU are doing in terms of evangelism…) and then possibly on to Karaoke for a bit. So no work at all for me today!

    *sigh*… it’s a hard life 😉

  • Today

Right. Today, I didn’t do all that much, it’s one of my days off this week. This morning, I … uh … did something. Then had lunch. Then me, Alex and Welsh Phil went to get our hair cut. Then I did some work, and then headed onto campus for 5:30 to meet Philippa for a drink. Then I met Paul before Fusion, then we had Fusion, then our group headed to Top Bar for an hour or so.

Fusion was quite good. There were only four of us – Me, Paul, Andy H and Ben. We had some good discussion 🙂

I think I’ve nearly got my CC351 coursework down… I don’t want to hold my breath in anticipation, but I think it’s getting there! I haven’t even looked at my computer vision coursework yet (my final year project? Forget about that for the time being…)

And due to popular demand (thanks Zeth, I shall write a little about my new girlfriend / bird / missus / whatever, Philippa. Her name is Philippa. She is a third year at university, although she’s only been here for a year (she came directly into the second year, first year was at Cambridge). I first met her in Fresher’s week last year, at one of the CU events. She was in my Fusion group last year, which is one of the reasons I know her quite well 🙂 Other than that, there’s not much to say except that she is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet!

This is a picture of us taken at Simon’s 24th, ages ago.

    That’s it for now, folks…

  • Strange

I’m sure I posted something up here yesterday! I checked today, and it wasn’t there. Perhaps I just cancelled it before I had time to publish it… I don’t know. Oh well.

Today, I came in for 10:00 to have a bar breakfast with Philippa, and we were joined by Vicki (one of Rich’s old flatmates) and one of her friends, who I’m afraid I can’t remember the name of! Then, it was off to my final year project meeting to discuss my project with my supervisor. That was fun… didn’t say much, but made it last for a whole 15 minutes.

Then I came up to a computer lab, and worked a bit on my project (writing down objectives — I even made a Gannt chart! Woo-hoo!)

I’m getting a bit nervous about my talk at CU tonight, but I think the key thing is that it’s just going to be something that happens — I’ve practised a few times, it’s gone well, so I reckon tonight should be pretty good. And, of course, I wouldn’t have felt led to do the talk if God wasn’t going to equip me to do it, so all I have to do is have a little faith!

Anyway. Yesterday night I spent some time trying to figure out this Java (CC351) assignment that we’ve got. I’m getting quite annoyed with this university — the assignments are all incredibly vague and could be done in a variety of ways (of course, only some of the ways will actually get you any marks…) I wrote a program which sort of did what they asked, but then I realised it was all wrong… I’ve read through the assignment sheet again and I reckon I’ve got it figured out now. All I have to do is program the thing (yeah, great…)

I just hope that when I graduate, businesses aren’t this bad — “Well, we want you to use threads in this program but we’re not going to tell you how. Oh no. We’re going to make you try and guess what you have to do, and if you get it wrong — sorry!”

Rant over! Ah well. I’m going to grab a cup of tea before my next lecture at 1:00. Then I’m going to meet Becca in Blues Bar for a cup of tea and cake (not a cup of cake, just a cake or something…) and then perhaps do a bit of work before CU this evening. I’ll let you know how the talk goes! And if you believe in it, a few prayers wouldn’t go amiss…

  • Ah, good ol’ gossip!

I love posting up news here, especially when it’s to do with gossip. You’d be surprised at how quickly it spreads 😉
