  • Day 221: Banana – Fair Trade

    Via Flickr:
Daily Shoot assignment: "Make a photograph of a symbol today."

I found this quite hard, because a symbol is more than just a logo. It’s meant to represent something.

In the end I chose the Fair Trade logo: I think this symbolises trying to make the world a fairer and better place, even if it’s not flawless and only a small thing!

  • BAP Update

Just a quick post to let you know that I’ve heard the results of my BAP (which I mentioned before).

Anyway, I can confirm that they are happy to recommend me 🙂 I spoke to Stuart (the assistant DDO) today, and I will meet with him on Monday evening to go over the whole report. Apparently it was very positive, which I’m pleased about.

That’s all I’m going to say for the time being, but generally I hope to post up a fuller blog post about our plans sometime soon 🙂

No Daily Shoot because I didn’t particularly know how to illustrate attraction – I wanted to take a picture of the bees pollenating but couldn’t quite get a picture of one!

I’m afraid it’s a pretty boring photo today but… well, I haven’t done many like this so I thought I was probably due one!

I saw this old barbed wire and I had to take a picture. I don’t know exactly what kind of metal it’s made of, but I think it qualifies!

You don’t see much of this around any more, this was just randomly next to a road near to where I work.

Well, this is a photo of our duvet. I felt that some days I feel like I’m only ever inside (at home at least) for sleeping! – so this is pretty much all I get to see of the inside of our house. And it’s very welcome, too.

Still, at least it’s not one of those days today!

  • The Week of Waiting

Thought it was about another time for a weekend style update, given that we’ve just had a weekend (I know! Coincidence or what!)

Obviously last week was my BAP, which I won’t really go into in much detail. It seemed to go pretty well, although I won’t know the results until (hopefully) this week. I got back home on Wednesday and was pretty shattered for the rest of the week!

We did help out at 21 on Friday night, and then on Saturday caught up with a bit of shopping and the like. In the evening Anne-Marie and Sarah came round, and we watched ‘Twenty Twelve’ (very funny comedy on BBC4 with lots of famous comedy people) and chatted for the evening.

On Sunday we went to church in the morning, and then went round to my parents’ for lunch. We had a nice afternoon there, and then came back for the evening service. So that’s pretty much caught up with the weekend! It’s getting late so I think I’ll leave it there for now 🙂

This is some new growth on a tree I saw today. I think it works quite well in black and white.

Unfortunately this is only a camera phone picture (I forgot to take my proper camera out with me, doh!)

But still. It’s a nice horizon, even if the photo isn’t as good as it would have been with my actual camera 🙂

This photo came out a bit more stark than I think a photo on “Happiness” should do. But essentially I wanted to make a photo about being lost in a good book… when that happens pretty much all I can see is the book and everything else fades to black 🙂
