  • “Cheesy” Tunes, Eh?

I will admit that I do regularly go out on a Friday night to an event called, “Cheesy Tunes.” They play cheesy music, you have a good laugh, it’s a good time. But the problem is, if they don’t play cheesy music…

Now, cheese just isn’t my kind of thing for listening to. As you will know if you’ve been reading these things, I’m a dance kind of person… I like trance music. And in general you’ll find me campaigning against the cheesy dance crap that’s coming out nowadays. But cheese — proper cheese — is good for relaxing to. You can sing along to it, it’s mindless, you can have a laugh. However, just recently they’ve been playing a LOT of r’n’b.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against r’n’b per se… it’s just the environment. If it was “r’n’b” tunes I wouldn’t have any problem with the night. But it’s not. And r’n’b isn’t cheese, it’s commercial and perhaps modern cheese, but it’s just not the same. Basically there’s one way of dancing to it, and that’s it. You can’t really just relax to it… this is where the problem comes in.

I think they ought to play more cheese and cheesy tunes and scrap the r’n’b. In fact, I may well send an email to Ents telling them so… they claim that by playing newer (r’n’b) type stuff they’re catering for a younger audience. Yeah right. Last year it was great…

Anyway, I’d better end the rant before I go on too long. It was just good to vent for a while 😉

  • The Sixth Day

Even I’m getting bored of numbering the days now. Oh well… I didn’t get up to much today. Went in for the CU Committee meeting at 11:00AM. I can’t BELIEVE they chose to have committee in the morning! Honestly, what with Friday being my day off this term, I have to go in for committee early morning! Early for me, at least… means I have to be up by 9 – 9:30ish. I don’t know how I’m going to survive when I get a job. Oh well.

Anyway, then I waited for a group project meeting to which none of the group members arrived, except for one which I say on my way into town. Oh well.

Then I went into town, got my hair cut (exciting!), bought a new pair of trainers, and a couple of records:

    • Chicane – Love on the Run [Warner Music]
Including the Rob Searle and Chicane mixes. This is actually quite a nice tune, although for Chicane it’s a tad pop-friendly. Don’t think it’s that bad though.

    • Hiver & Hammer – 5 Million Miles [ID&T]
Nice tune from H+H, they’ve been churning out some decent stuff recently! I’m quite impressed with this one.

    • Chakra – Love Shines Through [Warner Music / Codeblue]
Another tune from a few years ago… I liked it then, it’s probably not quite as good now but for 1.99 from Oxfam you can’t really complain!

Anyway, out to cheesy tunes tonight… oh the fun. Woo-hoo! Etc. Hope they’ll play some cheesy tonight as opposed to r’n’b… there’s nothing wrong with rnb, only that I don’t really like several hours of it…

Oh well. See you next time.

  • I can bend minds with my spoon…

Yeah, I know I said I would post up some stuff which was interesting. I know you couldn’t really call this interesting. But at least it has a picture of Keanu Reeves holding a spoon, which has to be a classic cinema moment…

  • The Fifth Day

Trust me, I will stop numbering the days once I hit seven! 🙂

Anyway. What did I do today? Nothing that interesting, actually. I got up. I had lunch. I went into University and chatted with some people, and then went to an Embedded Processors lecture. That was muchos fun… I love the PIC microcontroller. Oh yes, I do.

Then I went to theology seminar, which was actually quite fun. Note to self: Remember Psalm 139 🙂

And then I went home and cooked myself some dinner.

I hope that everyone has lives that are as exciting as mine…

You never know, I might actually post up something interesting later. Watch this space (not literally, because that would just be stupid.)

  • Pictures of the CU Elections

The Christian Union at the University of Essex held their committee elections a couple of weeks ago. I’ve put a link up from the CU Website… there are even some pictures of me doing my finance report! Fantastically exciting stuff…

  • Changes to the Blog (change back)

I’ve removed Phil Price from this Blog and I should hopefully be creating a new one entitled the “PhilBlog” 😉

I’m using this one mainly as a personal one now, not a random one per se. Not that it makes any difference whatsoever because no-one reads it… oh well.

  • And on the Real Fourth Day…

What happened today then? Well, in truth, not much really… went round to Foz’s for a mammoth four hour trance “anthem” mix session. Ah, the classics… Veracocha – Carte Blance, Lost Witness – Red Sun Rising, etc… ’twas a good mix! 🙂

Then I went into uni for my Fusion group, which was fun. We spent time debating issues such as predestination and the Holy Spirit, all fun and games! 😉

You know, I don’t really have much to say right now (shock! horror!) so I’ll leave you with a random quote:

Give a man a match and he’ll be warm for an hour. Light a man on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life…

    Thankyou, and goodnight…

  • Oh, just one more thing…

Thanks very much to Simon Lucas for mentioning me and this Blog on his website! 🙂

  • This isn’t really the fourth day

Mainly because I haven’t gone to bed yet. Looking at the time signature you will see that I have posted this just after midnight… anyway. What have I been up to since this afternoon? Not much really.

At 3:00 (well, it was more like 3:15, but hey, who’s being pedantic about detail?) I went for a drink with Naomi. Then I went to Fresher Phil’s for a while, had dinner at Sizzlers, went to CU (Keith Ponsford talking from Romans 3 about us all being sinners and saved by grace); then went t’Top Bar for a drink and pool.

That is my day summarised in a few short paragraphs!

For those of you who read this for my interesting and witty comments… sorry, there are none at the moment. Only that Fresher Phil (aka Phil Price, the mad welshman) might be joining the team who write for the MooseBlog. Oh, the fun!

Incidentally, if you haven’t already, check out rathergood.com — especially the Blode Animations. Watch them all, in sequence. They have achieved almost cult status amongst certain people here… 😉

    Thankyou, and good night.

  • And on the third day…

Ok, technically this is only the second day, because I started this blog early in the morning. Ah well, soon I’ll realise the absolute pointlessness of me making any comment about the days at all and stop boring you with it (or boring myself, at any rate.)

So, what have I been up to today? Nothing much really. Last night I added a new section to this blog — the “About this Blog” page. I also changed the design a little. All fun and games… still, I’m fairly pleased with the design, it looks nice and clean and although it’s not fantastic it will do.

This morning I had to make the decision whether or not to come onto campus… campus eventually won out, but I didn’t actually go to my Java lecture. Instead, I decided to go to Top Bar and play Pool. Oh, the joys of being a CompSci 😉

Currently I am sitting in a computer lab waiting for a group project meeting which I very much doubt will actually happen.

Expect a further bulletin a bit later on… oh yes. 🙂
