  • Hmmmm

I’ve just read the following on Simon’s blog:

I was going to post something about the vote to ban fox hunting, but I think I’ve written quite enough for today! Suffice it to say that, in a liberal democracy, I believe a government should keep legislation that forces people to do something, or bans people from doing something, to an absolute minimum.

Perhaps Simon would care to explain to me if legislation that “forces people to do something” should be kept to a minimum, what other kinds of legislation are there?

  • Films and things

I went to the cinema today with Joe and Tom, to see “Anchorman”. It was pretty good actually! If you like Will Ferrel type stuff (Elf, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Zoolander), then you’ll like this. Not as good as Dodgeball – but a “buy it on DVD when it comes down to buy one get one free” kind of good 🙂

Um, and I think that’s about it. I’m currently in the process of learning PHP, or at least trying to! I’ve even got myself a book out of the library and everything. Bring it on…

  • Busy Weekend!

Well, it turned out to be quite a busy weekend! I went to Phil’s and got there OK on Friday afternoon. In the evening we just went to the pub with a few of her friends.

Saturday morning, we headed into London to meet up with people at Victoria station. There were ten of us in the end, all from Essex (or, in the case of me and Kev, ex-Essex). It was a good day. We spent it wandering around the South Bank, then Covent Garden / Leicester Square, and went to Harrods! I had an interesting experience: I played Coldplay on an extremely expensive (about £50,000) grand piano in Harrods 🙂

Anyway, we had dinner at pizza hut, then went to a bar and then home. That was quite a long and tiring day! But enjoyable.

And then yesterday, it was Phil’s cousin (I think)? Anyway, it was his 40th birthday, so there was a party for him and I attended! And I met quite a few of Phil’s more extended family. It was a good day! Although the journey back was quite gruelling… the M25 was jammed solid! In the end we turned off onto the A10 and went through Tottenham. London was pretty busy too, but don’t really think we lost much time going that way – if anything it was slightly quicker. It still took about three hours to get back though! Still.

So, I’m home now, and that brings us up to date… by the way, there are some pictures of Sarah and Jon’s wedding on Matthew’s website. There are also various other photos there, including some ones of me (I apologise in advance).

Ok then chaps and chapesses, I’ll update again when I next have some news (could be some time…)

  • Off to London tomorrow

Just a quick update to say that I’m off to London tomorrow, so I probably won’t be posting anything over the weekend! I’ll be back on Monday. Whether or not I’ll actually post anything on Monday I don’t know… watch this space 😉

Anyway. I’m working on a new website ‘venture’, with a couple of other people. It’s ‘interesting’ 😉 But it’s definitely not finished yet so I shall leave you in suspense for the time being.

  • Trip to Colchester!

I’ve just got back from a trip up to Colchester. I managed to get there OK! I was a bit worried about weather conditions but it wasn’t too bad. Very windy though… I was being blown around enough all over the road!

So I managed to get the house OK before lunch and had lunch with Phil P. Then we went onto campus and met Matthew and Julian, and Jenny came down a bit later as well. Then we went back home and had dinner at the Rose & Crown, Ian came down, and then we went back to Claremont Road and were joined by Sarah and Jon for a bit. And, um, yeah… today, me and Phil just chatted most of the morning, and then in the afternoon went onto campus. So there you go!

    Still no news about jobs…

  • This is rather worrying

It’s been three years since “9/11”, so the world likes to call it. Well, three years minus one day, if you want to be picky.

What’s been going on since then? I found a rather worrying little flash animation which highlights some of it…

  • No news.

This is a news update to say that there is no news.

Apart from… those of you who remember the “Backseat Boys” (a talent show entry I did with Phil W, Phil P, Alex and KevvyB – I did post an image up here but I can’t be bothered to find it…) Anyway. I’ve written a new ‘Backseat Boys’ song, so brace yourselves: Backseat’s Back alright!…

  • The Interview

It was good! Just thought I’d better make some kind of post here. Obviously I don’t know what the outcome is going to be, but the interview didn’t go too badly so perhaps it’ll be positive 🙂

Anyway, once again – thanks for messages of support, and I’ll let you know when I do hear any news!

  • Matthew Blogs

Yes! I didn’t realise this (he didn’t tell me), but my friend Matthew who did computer science with me and is anglican chaplaincy assistant at Essex this year, has a blog!

    You can Read it here.

Hopefully I’ll get the new design rolled out soon and I’ll have a links section like some other sites….

  • Just a quick update

Yesterday, I went to Colchester. Philippa was moving some of her stuff in, and just in general getting her place for the next academic year ready. I went up and met her and her parents there. Then her parents went home, we went to see Matthew and had lunch with him (and I picked up my final year project, which incidentally I may put on the web which is probably an exercise in futility but there you go).

Then we came back to Ipswich, she stayed the night, and headed back home this afternoon. I bought “Shaun of the Dead” on DVD, so I’ve just watched that. I highly recommend it! It was funnier the second time around, but definitely well the money.

And one more thing, thanks everybody for messages of support for the interview tomorrow! I shall update here with how it went and let you know as and when I get any concrete news 🙂
