  • The Interview

Well, I had the interview this morning. It went quite well! I don’t think I misrepresented myself in any way, so if I don’t get the job it won’t be because I messed up in the interview (well, hopefully not). They’re actually conducting two-stage interviews, which means that if I passed the first stage I’ll get invited back. I’ll know hopefully sometime around the beginning of next week, I’ll let you know!

Chelmsford is a very nice place, I liked it a lot. The Cathedral is really nice — it is just like a big church, but it’s got something about it that is very likeable!

And, I don’t think I have much else to say. I’m going to go up to Cambridge tomorrow with Philippa to see some of her friends and have a look round, also meet up with Rich (who was going to Cambridge on the same day, funnily enough).

Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me… later!

  • The Weekend

    Nothing much happened.

  • The Ball and House Party…

Well, it’s been a while since I last updated! As for what’s been happening since then — a couple of ‘big events’, the The Summer Ball and the CU summer House Party.

The former went well, it was a good night! Long, but I survived and am in the Survivor’s photo (hopefully). I won’t bother to give a review of the acts, because none of them were really worth mentioning! Me and Chris spent most of Kelly Lorenna’s set singing Badger Badger Badger, and the rock tent was really cool, but just a generally good night 🙂

The CU house party was good. The themes were identity, relationships and doubt. They were handled well by the speakers, Phil Marshall (the UCCF worker from UEA) and Alice Jackson (our UCCF worker). The talks were all very challenging… one thing I took from the week was the call to be holy and set apart. This is something which I think God’s been challenging me specifically about in the past few weeks as it’s come up several times. It’s certainly something which is very hard to do, but with God’s grace it will become more and more possible for me!

Anyway. Apart from things theological, the weekend was good fun. The talent show on Wednesday night went well. Me, Alex, Philippa, Phil P and Kev B performed ‘Love Me For a Reason’ as “The Backseat Boys”:

That went down very well! And it was a generally fun week (despite the hayfever). Thorrington Scout Camp is a beautiful location!

Hopefully I’ll have some pictures up of both the summer ball and the house party within the next few days.

One more piece of news, I’m going for a job interview on Tuesday morning! It’s a web programming job with a company in Chelmsford. Out of the student world and into the world of work, it’s a scary prospect…

    All for now!

  • Exams all over!!!

This is hard to believe. All my exams are now over. My degree is now over. All I have left to do is graduate! These past three years of my life are now coming to a conclusion, it’s time to move on.

It’s strange to think about. In some ways I’m really looking forward to having a job, because being a student and constantly in debt isn’t a nice feeling. At the same time, I’m not looking forward to having to search for jobs… hunting for jobs is a full-time job in itself really. Now that my exams are over, I might sign up for the odd job hunting website or something.

I might even apply for that job that was emailed round a week ago. I don’t know… it’s just such a strange feeling. I think it’ll take a while to get used to it! I’ve had two years where I’ve been a student and had to say goodbye to people who have been graduating, but now I’m the one who’s having to say goodbye to the students still here.

Still — onwards and upwards, as they say…

  • Well, this hasn’t been a bad weekend

But I’ll just tell you about last night in particular. The CU booked a society night in Mondo, and decided to have it as a 90s night. It was really very good! Me and Andy C DJd. It was great fun — probably one of the all-round best nights I’ve had here! Everyone was enjoying themselves and, best of all, we managed to almost pack out Mondo which is quite an achievement, given that it was a Sunday night during exam time!

So yes, that was good. On Saturday, I went out shopping and bought a few new bits. I can’t remember whether I’ve already said that. So I’ll stop there.

I have my last exam tomorrow! Good ol’ Computer Vision. It’s going to be a really weird feeling — this time tomorrow, I will have done everything for my degree. Apart from graduating, that will be it. Nothing else. Scary or what?!

Still, I think I’ll be glad to have finished exams and university work in general… I was getting tired of the assignment / exam cycle, and if I had to do any more revision I think I’d go crazy…

Anyway, that’s it from me today. Later…

  • It’s been ages…

I’d post up about all the stuff I’ve done here, but I really can’t be bothered. No effort spared for you guys 🙂

Had a few exams. Middleware went OK, although in an “hardest exam so far” kind of way. Formal Methods went quite well, I just hope that it was as easy as it felt!

Um, and that’s about it. I’ve started re-programming my Java Chat Client / Server system using Java RMI. Not that you wanted to know that, but I thought I’d tell you anyway.

    Right, that’s it. Night!

  • Revision… blah…

I haven’t done much at all exciting the past few days. I’ve done some revision… and that’s about it.

On Wednesday I went round to Philippa’s place for the evening. And this evening as it was Naomi’s birthday yesterday we’re going out to Cheesy Tunes. I’m currently sitting down in the chaplaincy, and going to head up to the bar in a minute. But I don’t think there’s much else to say.

Does anyone want me to draw a diagram of how Message-Oriented Middleware works? No? Thought not…

  • Exams…

The last few days have (once again) mainly been about revision. Yesterday I went to Fordham in the morning, did a bit of revision in the afternoon, and in the evening Philippa came round and we watched a film.

Then, the exam was 9:15 this morning… and I don’t think it was that bad! There weren’t any topics there which hadn’t previously come up on a past paper. There were one or two questions which I wasn’t too sure about that, but I don’t have a bad feeling about it which has to be a good thing!

I now have a week before my next exam (Middleware), so I might take a short break from revision! :-)…

  • Blogger has been updated!

Well, Blogger have redesigned their site, and I have to say it looks very nice! Well done there!

Um, yeah. I had an exam this morning, it was actually pretty good. The only thing I’m worried about is that I didn’t write enough for it! But other than that, not bad.

I’m slightly worried about the exam I’ve got on Monday, I guess it’s just going to be revision this weekend…

Anyway. Onto slightly more frivolous matters — I’ve uploaded my spy story to Fiction Press. You can read it online and write a review and stuff, so please have a read and leave comments! You can find it here.

  • Hmmm

Well, I tried to update a few days ago, but the site seemed to be down, so I have an excuse for not updating regularly! 😉

Yes. Anyway. I had my first exam on Monday, it was ‘Advanced Object Oriented Programming.’ It went quite well, I know that I made one or two stupid mistakes but I don’t think I made any major mistakes (at least, I hope not).

The next one is tomorrow — ‘Information Retrieval and Visualisation’. That’s one which could be quite tricky… everyone’s been saying how easy it’s going to be, but actually there is some stuff in the course which we could be asked about that isn’t necessarily obvious. If you catch my drift. So, I’m going to be revising for that today! The exam I’m really worried about, however, is on Monday: Mobile Robots. That’s going to be the killer exam — it’s a very big topic, and is quite potentially the hardest exam I’ve got!

So yes, that’s what I’ve been doing for the past few days: revising. And playing the odd game of Red Alert 2 😉 Yesterday, Matthew came round and we spent the afternoon revising Mobile Robots, just going through the past paper. In the evening, Philippa came round and we all watched ‘Short Circuit’ 1 and 2 (very cheese, very funny 80s type films…)

That just about wraps it up from me. And it’s goodbye from me, and it’s goodbye from one of my other multiple personalities…
