  • The internet appears to be down…

Well, the internet appears to be down at our house. I really don’t know why. I went to bed Wednesday night and it was working, I woke up yesterday morning and it wasn’t. As far as I know nothing changed… whether it’s BT’s fault or not I don’t know. I’ve tried reconnecting and everything — the router says that it’s connected… but nothing seems to be happening.

If it still isn’t working later I might give them a ring.

Yes, anyway. I haven’t done much in the past couple of days, I just wanted to update in case you thought I was being lazy (when, in fact, I am being lazy but at least this time I have an excuse).

    Later…

  • Well, I’m still alive!

I got back home at about 6:45 this morning, and went straight to bed. Unfortunately I had a rude awakening — why oh why did the workman who came to fix our leaking roof decide to start work (rather noisily) at about 9:00? The one time when I was really tired and needed sleep! Grrr. Oh well. I will sleep tonight…

I don’t have much to say really, so I think I’ll just leave it there. All for now…

  • 6:00… it’s over!

Well, it’s now over. I’m not actually particularly tired or anything… I think that’s probably because I’m over-tired! I’m now going to go home and have a nice sleep – assuming that I can sleep, of course! There’s no guarantees about it. It was quite nice after five, we went out to sit just outside the chaplaincy and then went down to the lake to have a wander round. But it was a very good prayer session and I’m glad that I did it!

    Alex’s Coffee Update
Well, I don’t think he’s actually had a cup since my last update! It’s amazing!

Anyway, that’s it from Phill, 24-7 Prayer. I’m off, later…

  • 03:53

This is the last update before we actually start the prayer session we’ve been hanging about for for the past few hours! I’m still feeling pretty awake. We (me, Alex, Philippa, Chris T) went for a bit of a walk round the lake and then me and Philippa went up to the radio studio to have a listen to a bit of music before coming back down to the chaplaincy. Now, I am armed with another strong espressochoc and am ready for anything. Uh, in terms of prayer 😉 I can’t say that I’m feeling particularly holy at the moment, but then again — I don’t think that’s the most important thing!

    Alex’s Coffee Update
Another fairtrade, two heaped teaspoonfuls of coffee — and two strong espressos! I’m surprised that he’s still actually relatively coherent. And, now, Alex, do you have anything to say? (Yes Phill to do! – I swear that squirrel is folowing me! I’ve seen it 6 or 7 times on the way down here alone! – Alex aka THE COFFEE MONSTER! :p)

  • It’s 02:39

How’s it going? Well, I had a bit of a lie down between about 1:00 and 2:00… I felt pretty tired, but now I feel wide awake! I think I must be operating on adrenaline or caffeine or something. I went to the drinks and chocolate machines with Philippa and Alex, and after a bottle of Dr. Pepper I feel… caffeinated.

Only another hour and twenty minutes to go before we start! Time is just flying by… this is a rather good night so far 🙂 I’m glad I signed up to do a ridiculous hour of the morning, staying up all night on campus with other people is good fun!

    Alex’s Coffee Update
Another coffee, fairtrade — two heaped teaspoonfuls. He’s buzzing like a strobe light. Or something. Give it a while and he’ll be bouncing off the walls. (OHHHHH!!! TWINKIES!!! – Alex)

Philippa wanted to say something in this. So here’s your chance, Phil!… “Hi Phill’s Blog-readers! It’s buzzing on campus tonight, we’re bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and about to go up to the radio station and play some choons (hmm, am I showing my age?!) after a random walk around campus in the dark, erm, yay! Goodbye!”

    Bo! Solero! — Phill

  • It’s 00:32

I’m starting to feel the strain. We’ve watched three or four episodes of ‘Family Guy’ already. I’m getting a bit tired, but I’m on my second strong espressochoc of the night. I’m beginning to feel the effects a little bit. Me, Alex and Philippa just went up to the coffee machine in the computer science deparment, and I did a little silly dance. We met a security guy as I was doing that… I don’t think he was too impressed. Ah well, you can’t win ’em all.

I’m introducing a new feature to this blog…

    Alex’s Coffee Update
One espressochoc, one cappucino, two strong espressos, one walking to the coffee machine wearing no shoes… (Whoppee!! Slippy floors!!! – Alex)

    It’s going to be a long night…

  • It’s 23:35…

And I’m already questioning my sanity as to why oh why I decided to sign up for the 4-6AM prayer slot. I don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep, so I think I’m just going to stay up and hang around in the chaplaincy until then. Only another four and a half hours to go — before my slot has even begun!!! … I’ll probably update again sometime.

  • It was good!

It went down well 🙂 At one point the dancefloor was pretty busy, most people seemed to enjoy it even if they weren’t dancing! And I really enjoyed it… um, not much else to say really. They recorded it all live, so you might be able to have a listen to my set — although I don’t think it would sound very good when played back on a standard system — with loud systems sometimes they’re so loud that they cover up your mistakes!

Anyway. Back to revising Java RMI…

  • Yo!

Haven’t done much interesting since my last post. Went to see ‘Shaun of the Dead’ on Saturday night. It was very good — very gory in places, and I don’t think as good as ‘Spaced’, but definitely good 🙂

I had three revision lectures today. Fairly boring and mundane kind of stuff, but that’s what revision is really. Nothing exciting and new because it’s just revision… ah well, at least these should be the last exams that I’ll have to do for a while! (Possibly ever, but I very much doubt that).

I’m DJing at ‘The Lock-In’ tonight, which is an event organised by the DJ Soc here. I’m on at 11… it should be good fun! I just hope that lots of people come, it’s a bit dodgy because it’s the first day of term and I’m not sure how well it’s been advertised. Oh well, if not many people do come then — c’est la vie.

I’m about to go and meet Philippa now to have a quick drink beforehand, so I’ll update later* and tell you how it went (if I don’t update, it was rubbish 😉

    * Later could mean anytime from later today to sometime next week or beyond…

  • Quick update

Um, yes. Nothing much to say! Yesterday, I did some revision in the morning. And early afternoon. Then Philippa came round about 4:00ish, so we spent the afternoon and evening together. In the evening, Phil P, Anne-Marie and Esther all arrived so we went to the pub for a bit. And just watched things like Spaced. And stuff. And then I went to bed. It’s a fantastically exciting life…

Today, I did some revision. Then I had lunch. A bit later this afternoon I’m going to go onto campus to finish off my robotics (hopefully), and then head round to Philippa’s place. We might go into town for dinner as a few people are going to the Playhouse, but I’m not sure about that yet! And I have to go to Tesco … but anyway!
