  • New Site!

That’s right! I’ve designed a new website which you can find at phillsacre.co.uk — or just here. Not all the links work yet, but it’s a good start! At least this blog is working — FINALLY!!

I haven’t done much work on anything else given that I’ve spent most of the day doing this! I’m quite pleased with the result though. Anyway, time for bed now I reckon — I think I’ve earned it…

  • Morning Sci-Fi out on Monday!

Just thought you would like to know that one of my favourite bands (if you can call them a band) has a new album out on Monday, called “Morning Sci-Fi” by Hybrid.

I will definitely be buying myself a copy 🙂

  • I’ve registered it!

I can’t believe it cost me about £7 to register a domain name for two years. Not bad, eh?

phillsacre.co.uk is now mine! At the moment it only points to the normal Moose of Ming website, but I’ll soon change that. Next up on my list of things to do amongst all my spare time — design another new website! It’s all good fun…

  • Ok, so, every three days seems about right…

Well, it seems like every three days I’m posting now, instead of every two. I do apologise, but it’s easy to lose track of time in the holidays. Each day is the same…

Still no work. I didn’t even go into the agency on Monday. Every time I go in they subtly try and discourage me from going in by saying, “we’ve got your number — we’ll call you.” So I didn’t bother. I will give them a call next Monday, but as it is I’m just fed up with the whole thing. Even more annoying is the knowledge that my Aunt (in London) could get me loads of work if I lived down that way. This is one of those times when you just have to trust God… last year I got a job almost immediately, because I was in a lot of debt to begin with! This year I’m slowly going into debt — but I’m sure things will work out, I just wish I knew when! Ah well.

You know, taking on the task of writing even a short story is quite an assignment! I’ve written 8,301 words so far. I would estimate that I’m about two thirds through it, but it’s difficult to really know exactly. The problem is — after I’ve written the thing there is still a lot of work to do! The small matter of going through the pages, examining for any mistakes and of course making it more readable. Making it more readable I think is the key thing because at the moment it’s a bit manic, jumps around quite a lot. While that’s quite true to my natural style, I think it could do with some polishing… anyway, when it’s finished I will post it up online here.

I could also work on the website that I’ve mentioned, which I’m going to create. Thanks to Simon, I think I might hop onto 123reg.co.uk and register that domain name, if I can! I’ll get working on a personal website soon.

Anyway, that’s about it for now. My copy of “Victory over the Darkness” still hasn’t arrived… it had better arrive tomorrow, I want to get reading!

Ciaio (or however you spell it) for now…

  • The weekend

I haven’t made a post here now since Thursday! It’s shocking, I tell you! Shocking!

The reason being, of course, I haven’t done anything really worth mentioning. I have now nearly finished the GDI Missions of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, I’m on the last mission (out of 17!). I’ve spent a fair bit of time playing that over the last few days…

Still no job unfortunately. Played a bit of tennis, read a bit… surfed the internet… Ok, I’m really scraping the barrel here!

I have found an interesting new webcam though. Well, it’s probably not new, but it’s new to me 🙂 If you want to see what Essex University (the uni where I’m studying) is like, take a look at this webcam. It’s of the square by the library… not very exciting, especially at this time of year. The tent just behind the building to the left isn’t there all the time, I think it’s just there for the graduation ceremonies or something.

I’m thinking about re-vamping this website… the whole “Moose of Ming” thing is ok for a joke but I really need a personal website to collate everything into (everything being my DJing type stuff, web design, personal stuff, this blog, the moose of ming website, photos etc). Something like phillsacre.co.uk … unfortunately at the moment I don’t have the money to register it! I will do at some point though, or something similar.

Anyway, that’s enough for today. Toodle-pip!

  • The days just fly by…

When you’re not doing much, it’s surprising how quickly the days go by. I’ve now got less than a university term left of my holidays (about nine weeks until the week I move back in). Four weeks until Soul Survivor.

I just hope I have a job by then to finance it! Anyway. I signed up for Office Angels, haven’t heard anything yet though. I watched a couple of films, played a bit of tennis earlier (my racket is mostly in good condition apart from the handle! yay!) and played Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. Worked a bit more on the book (now 6,500 words done). Oh, and Simon — I cancelled my direct debit to the National Trust. They ain’t gonna get two years outta me 😉 — what was the average? Four years or something?

As you can see, it’s been a fantastically exciting day in the life of me. I’ve nearly finished “How to Give Away Your Faith”… the next book I want to read is called “Victory Over the Darkness”, I’m just about to have a look for it on Amazon now.

    Righty-ho, see you all later!

  • More photos!

One more thing: Simon has got some more photos up, some of them have me in.

You might want to look at the ones which don’t have me in 😉

  • Today, and yesterday…

Yesterday I went into town, bought a couple of records, wrote a bit more, um… watched some of “Spaced” series 2…

    Today I did even less…

Tomorrow I’m going to go into town and sign up for “Office Angels”, another temp agency. I’ll have to take my CV in as well which is quite unusual for temp jobs, but oh well.

I’ve now got up to about 5,500 words on that story I’m writing. It really is going to be a fairly short story — I’m already up to the confrontation with the evil genius! It’s shocking, I know — but then again, the hero doesn’t really have to do any searching for him so it’s OK 😉 Probably best to be relatively short as well, easier to read.

Anyway! That’s about it for now. Have fun, loyal blog readers…

  • Today

What have I been up to today? Well, you already know a couple of hours’ worth 😉 This morning I went to church. A family service, it was good. All about the Church being a body.

Then I came home, had lunch, watched Wimbledon, started work on a book I had an idea for yesterday, had tea, chatted to Andy B oh the phone for an hour, spent an hour searching for a CD which I couldn’t find, and finally worked on the book a bit more.

I expect you’ll want to know a bit about this particular book I speak of. No? Well, I’ll tell you anyway. I’ve been reading quite a lot of Douglas Adams recently. Well, stuff that he’s written at least. I finished “The Salmon of Doubt” yesterday. Then I read something on some labour MP’s website which is supposed to be for ‘yoof’ (it’s more ironic and a satire, but…) My immediate thoughts were “I can do that!” (to an extent — I will never be able to write anything approaching the genius of the late Douglas Adams). So I decided to write something funny in my own style. A short story, or something. The only problem was, I didn’t know what it was going to be about. I had a little brainstorming session (as I was going to bed — always the best time, if you want to stay awake for a long time…) and decided to write a Spy spoof. I know this has been done to death with three Austin Powers films and “Johnny English” (not to mention Bond films have really been spy spoofs for quite a long time now) but trust me: no-one has ever done anything like this before. Perhaps a similar story (in fact, intentionally so) but not my style of writing.

When I’ve written enough of it, I’ll consider posting it up here. Or — worse — I’ll e-mail it to people and ask for them to comment on it personally. That’s always the worst kind, then you feel obliged… Mur Ha HA HAA!!!!

    Sorry. Sweet dreams… 😉

Hope the undocumented bed features don’t bite.

  • Tennis Finals

Well the Women’s Singles final yesterday was an absolute farce of a tennis match. Venus Williams just wasn’t up to form at all. I don’t really think she was trying, and neither was Serena (not seriously, anyway). If it was due to Venus’ injury, I think she should have withdrawn. Still, yet another victory for the Williams’ sisters…

The mens final today was much better. Although Philippoussis could have done much better, I still think it was a good match (two tie-breakers!), a lot more competitive than yesterday’s. Don’t really have much else to say about that!

I’m going to get back to whatever it is that I was doing. Writing. Yeah, that’s it… I’ll update again later hopefully.
