  • Busy day!

It’s been a busy day. Had to be up at normal time this morning to get down to London for my Nan’s funeral. It was a good funeral as they go – a very fitting tribute!

I’ve also hired (or reserved) a van for moving on Saturday into the new place. Also I am getting the new car tomorrow! Getting the insurance sorted cost me a fair bit (about £300, the thieving scoundrels!!!).

Still, anything to get rid of that old car… sorry about the lack of interesting stuff in this post, my brain is a bit fried!

  • The Weekend

Just another ‘the weekend’ post 🙂 I did go to Ikea on Saturday, and picked up some nice furniture – quite cheap, too! Travelling there wasn’t too bad until you actually got into Lakeside, it wasn’t so much that it was busy – it was just knowing which exit to take on various roundabouts! Still, we got there OK.

I managed to get a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a bedside table, and a couple of shelving units. Out of those, I took the chest of drawers and the bedside table back to Colchester with me and actually managed to put them up! They look quite good, I have to say 🙂 The wardrobe and shelving units will be arriving today, in fact probably already have arrived at home.

Anyway. I’m getting the new car on Wednesday, Paul needs the car for getting into college tomorrow but I’ll be able to pick the car up on Wednesday evening 🙂 Whcih will be cool. Also will give me the opportunity to take a few more things over to the flat before moving in.

Um, don’t think there’s much else to say at the moment, so I’ll leave it there…

  • Off to Ikea

Well, tomorrow it’s off to Ikea to pick up some furniture for the new flat! I know that a lot of people don’t like Ikea because (as someone said to me yesterday) “we’ll all end up with houses that look exactly the same!”.

This is true. But still, I think it’s a good place to go to just when you’re starting out and need a few bits – after a while I can start to pick up some proper furniture 😉

That was my deep thought of the day. And also my explanation / excuse of why I’m not going to be posting here much over the weekend…

  • Blogging on the move

I noticed the other day that Simon had acquired for himself a Blackberry, meaning that he could send and receive e-mails on the move. This means that he can use Blogger’s “blog by e-mail” feature to blog on the move…

Now, I would just like to make it absolutely clear: X-Blog will NOT be providing a “blog by e-mail” feature, that’s probably just about the saddest thing I’ve ever heard! My blog is boring enough already without having to make it so that I can add minute details by e-mail if I have to…

… not to mention the fact that technically speaking it’d require me to have my own server!

  • The Flat

I realised just now that I hadn’t actually posted anything up about the flat! It’s very nice 🙂

We’re on the fifth floor of a block. This means that it will be more difficult to carry stuff upstairs (I’ve got some stuff in the car, I’m not looking forward to having to cart that up – even if there is a lift!) but still. It’s a very nice little place, I like it a lot!

Um, there’s not a whole lot more news to say really, so I’ll just leave it there I think…

  • The Weekend

I’m just trying to get to Google’s #1 weekend for “The Weekend”! Nah, not really.

On Friday I went up to Colchester and me, Philippa, Phil P and Phil B went to ‘Cheesy Tunes’. It was good, apart from the DJ who was on from about 10-11 didn’t get off the mic! I was pretty tired so didn’t stay very late.

On Saturday I had a fairly quiet day. In the afternoon I went into town and paid the deposit on the new flat (more on that in a moment). On Sunday me and Philippa went to the chaplaincy, and then we had a Tesco’s lunch with Phil B. In the afternoon we did the show on RED AM 1404, and then we went round to Alex’s for the evening.

Right, the news about the flat… I’m picking up the key this evening 🙂 I’m really excited – and a tad frustrated: I’d really like to move in now, but I need to get all the furniture etc first and I can’t do that for a while. Just got to be patient. Still, if anyone wants to pop in when I’ve moved, let me know!

  • Variety of news

Well, I’ve got some good news and bad news. Good news and bad news for me, that is, not for anyone reading this – but, um, yes. The bad news is, my Nan died yesterday 🙁 I think in the end it was more of a blessed relief, but still. The funeral will probably be the week after next.

The good news is that the flat is ready to move into! So I’ll hopefully pick the key up for that tomorrow or Monday, yay! 🙂

Anyway, not much else to say – I’m off to Colchester once again for the weekend, so it’ll probably be next week before I update again!

  • Ferry Corsten!

I’ve just done a tribute mix to Ferry Corsten. He’s a DJ who was very influential in the trance scene in the golden years of trance – around 1999. If you’re interested, have a look on the forum post – be quick though, it’s on YouSendIt — i.e., a limited number of downloads!

  • The Weekend

I suppose I’d better make the customary “The Weekend” post 😉

Um, yes. This weekend I haven’t done a lot. I’ve spent a few hours preparing a talk I’m doing at the Anglican Chaplaincy in just under two weeks. On Saturday evening I went to see (or listen to) the University of Essex Choir sing Vaughn Williams’ “Sea Symphony”. To be honest it wasn’t my favourite choral piece – although having said that, choral pieces aren’t really my forte. I’m more of a piano kind of person I think – my favourite classical piece I’ve ever heard live was Shostakovich’s second piano concerto. Absolutely amazing…

On Sunday I went to church as usual in the morning, and then headed off to Colchester to meet up with Philippa and a few other people. In the evening we went round to Claremont Road and watched the new Doctor Who episode (Simon Pegg was absolutely fantastic in it) and most of ‘Peter Kay Live’. Peter Kay is a very funny guy, although I imagine he wouldn’t be to everyone’s tastes!

That brings you up to speed… Um, not much else to say, so I’ll stop there!

  • RSS

I was so keen to tell you about upgrades that I forgot to mention the important thing – this blog now has an RSS feed. If you’re using Firefox, you should be able to see it, just check out that little orange icon down in the bottom right. You can use an RSS feed reader to read one, it’s too late for me to actually hunt one out for you to use though…
