  • Embedded Processors Again

Came in to uni today for my 11:00 Embedded Processors lecture. I really don’t know why they’re teaching us LeJOS (programming the Lego Minstorms kits in Java), mainly because we’re not doing any coursework on it. I guess the exams, but… anyway. I spent the two hour lab after it (or at least, an hour and a half) working on the assembly language assignment. That was rather fun, we made some progress. It’s always good when you’re making progress… the thing I hate most about any kind of programming is just sitting at a screen being completely stumped. Having said that, once you’ve got it cracked it’s a good feeling 🙂

Then went down to the chaplaincy for lunch for a few minutes, and am now sitting in a Java lab. Think I’ll just sign in and go into town…

I’ve got a demo recorded and burnt to CD now, the cover looks very basic (i.e. it’s in a case but all it’s got on the CD is my name, number and e-mail address – I guess all you need really). Anyway, I may well hand that in to Spoofers later today 🙂

    I’ll let you know…

  • This evening

Or at least, “last evening” by the date thing. Anyway. Came back from Fordham, had a Sunday roast round at Matthew’s which was very nice! Watched a bit of the F1 Racing, came back home, prepared this week’s Fusion study (Philippians 4:1-9). Quite interesting… some of the themes tie in with what we were talking about in the UCCF weekend thingum.

Anyway. Then made some dinner, went round to Matthew’s again to watch “Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail”, then came back home, wrote an entry in the Blog… oh wait, that’s what I’m doing now.

Anyway. Simon thinks that I’ve mentioned Philippa a lot recently, so here I am mentioning her again. No hot gossip alert this time though, I’m afraid! Oh well.

    Maybe next time…

  • This morning

Just back from Fordham. It was good as usual! This time Mike wasn’t speaking as he’s going to Zermatt in a few days; he led the service but Quinlan (sp?) spoke. It was very good as well! It was on the last part of Romans chapter 8. I really don’t know about this whole predestination thing; people in the CU here have had many discussions about it recently… (in fact, I think it was due to something that Mike Neville said in his talk here 😉

Anyway. It’s all good food for thought, and speaking of food — I’m going round to Matthew’s for a Sunday roast! Yay!

  • The Party

Was good. Yes. Had a looooong chat with AndyB about evangelism beforehand which was not productive but actually turned out to be quite productive because it both made us think… so yeah.

And the party was good, what more can I say? Lots of people there, I think a good time was had by all. My best of wishes to Pete and Suzi for the future! 🙂

  • Ok, let me explain…

The reason why I didn’t update again last night. After I made that last post I finished doing some work (or at least gave up), then went home. Recorded a demo mix which I was fairly happy with (shock horror!) — I’ve just got to redo the last mix which hopefully shouldn’t take too long (or be too hard).

Then it was out to Kev L’s birthday party at the Playhouse. That was a nice meal and good time chatting with people, then we headed onto campus for Cheesy Tunes followed by Spin. This was only the second time I’ve been out to Spin this year, the first time was the first one of the academic year! I’m not really into rnb and hip-hop; although they did play some good older stuff.

Mainly it was me, Kev L and Philippa dancing although Naomi and Katie and Barney (and some of Barney’s friends) were down there for a while and Rob and Kerry were there as well for some of the time. We left about 1:15 and then me and Kev went round to Philippa’s for a hot chocolate before heading home.

I got home at about 3:00 this morning, hence the lack of updates!

Anyway, today I came in to uni to do my radio show at 2:00, followed by the CU mix 3-5:00. It was good fun actually, Rich and Tim (and his son Dan) came in. Was good fun! 🙂

I’m going to an engagement party tonight, Pete and Susie. They’ve been engaged for about a year but due to circumstances they haven’t been able to have the party up until now. Oh well. I’m meant to be bringing a bag of oven chips but I haven’t got any as yet — I think I’ll have to stop off on the way and get some from Spar or something!

Just hope none of them read this… 😉

Will hopefully update later to tell you how it went. (or to tell me, depending on who’s reading this when. You’ve got to look to the future, y’know).

  • Just to update you

Committee Meeting. Ideas. Lunch with Joe. Sitting in a Robotics lab with a microprocessor that doesn’t wan’t to work. My life is just soooo exciting…

  • Thursday

Haven’t updated today so I thought I might as well. You know, as you do…

Anyway. This morning / early afternoon I spent some time on my decks just trying to work out a tracklist for the demo I’m going to give in to Spoofers. I really, really hate doing demos — I can never get it quite right! Ah well, I’ll just have to make up my mind to record something and give it out without trying to be too pedantic!

Anyway. Then I went in to get some more of my embedded processors assignment done… I’m beginning to get the hang of this assembly language thing! I’m beginning to feel a little more confident that I will eventually get the assignment done at least!

Then I went to the lecture, went round to Philippa’s to pick up a Spin ticket for tomorrow night (she’d won one on the radio), chatted for half an hour and then headed back to the chaplaincy for Tower Evangelism. This is where we go into the flats in the towers and do people’s washing up, and do surveys and ask questions if people are agreeable. We got a few good responses to that tonight!

Anyway. I’m going to leave it there for the moment, back to the ol’ Java assignment (still got a couple of weeks to do it, but my reasoning is if I can get it done soon then there won’t be a mad rush at the end of term.)

  • Fusion Social and things

The Fusion Social in the end wasn’t too bad. There were six of us: Me, Becca, Paul, Richard, Philippa (usually just “Phil” but to distinguish between them all better be specific) and Paul’s friend, Bod whos real name is Matthew but no-one ever calls him that. We went to Pizza the Hutt, and then on to Spoofers. That was good fun!

I’m going to have to try and make a demo CD for Spoofers. I asked about it and he said it was cool, hand one in, so I think I will! I’ll have to get around to making a tape first but for the first time in ages I seem to know what kind of mood I want to create! I know roughly where to pitch it, which is good 🙂

Anyway. All’s fair in love and DJing, or whatever 😉

  • Assembly Language… Must… Like…

I DO Like assembly language! Oh yes, I do! *sigh*… I am currently sat in the Brooker robotics lab trying to struggle with a PIC Microprocessor, trying to get it to do what I want. I spent a couple of hours just trying to figure out how to get it to display more than eight bits on the LCD panel… excuse my computer science talk, but this is a good place to vent 😉

Ah, the last three weeks of term are usually the busiest for me… before that, assignments are spread out but most courses have assignments that have to be in by the end of term within a few days of each other.

Back to the grind… prayer triplet at 3 with Andy C and Steve, time to moan and pray about it! Hehe.

Fusion social is at Pizza Hut tonight… not sure how many people are going to come. I know my co-leader, Becca, isn’t feeling so good so she might not be coming. I’ll probably be sitting there on my own… sob. Stay tuned 🙂

  • This evening

Was fun. I still can’t believe I spent nearly 2 hours this afternoon designing the user interface for the second java assignment — the thing is, you don’t even have to make it look good! Just need to make it work. Ah well.

This evening, came back to CU from pancakes at Paul’s place. ‘Twas rather fun 🙂 CU was a bit different, but it linked in well with what we’d been doing over the weekend. It was in the form of a Bible-study, and it was actually quite fun! Different, but fun!

I’m a bit tired to actually write stuff now, think I’m gonna read a bit of “The Cross of Christ” (you know, just a bit of light reading before bed… 😉 then actually go to bed.

    Seeya…
