I always find remembrance day particularly moving, something about all those brave men and women who fought and died, and suffered much, in order that we might have our freedom. We owe a huge debt to them.

    Lest we forget.

The volume control is part of my Squier Stratocaster by the way.

  • Project 365 Update

Just a quick Project 365 update: I’ve now caught up and have uploaded my photos to my Flickr Stream.

As you have probably noticed, I’m no longer posting up a blog entry each day with a quick summary of the photo. This is because, well, I thought it was a bit pointless duplicating everything from Flickr. However, if you would like to subscribe to my Project 365 photo feed, you may do so with this link.

The only problem with this is that my Flickr uploads won’t get posted out to Twitter. Some might say that’s a blessing 😉 But I might see if there’s something I can do to get Twitter updated as well.

Oh, and I’m now on day 76: I’ve got less than 300 days remaining! RESULT!!!

Update: After all that, I’ve just found that Flickr can create a blog entry for me. I guessed this must be possible, I just didn’t realise it was so easy! No more updating Flickr and my blog simultaneously. Now I just need to find a way of getting WordPress and / or Flickr to add the correct tags and category… hmm…

  • Boiler Installed

Last week we were having our new boiler installed. I mentioned about the chaos that the house was in – carpets up, floorboards removed, bare pipes exposed… essentially it wasn’t really livable in! Well, all that work has pretty much been completed now. There are still a few things remaining which are unrelated to the boiler (we were having a couple of additional things done in the kitchen, i.e. new cupboards installed and new lights installed) but the house is now livable in. Which is good, because AJ and Jen are back from holiday (think it was last night or today they were getting back) so we wouldn’t have been able to stay there any more! Anyway we really enjoyed spending a week there, it was great to have somewhere to go which wasn’t in total chaos.

So… Friday night there was no youth club, it was quite nice to have the evening off! On Saturday, after cleaning up at AJ and Jen’s house, we headed for home and met up with Phil’s parents: they came up for the day to help us clear up in the house. We had a few workmen finishing off some plastering that day, but by the end of the day the house was pretty much all shipshape and Bristol fashion. (There’s an expression I haven’t used in a while).

In the evening we went round to Phil and George’s house to see them, Makaila and Anne-Marie. It was nice to see them, it’s been far too long (since Makaila’s christening a few months ago)!

On Sunday morning we went to two services! Then in the afternoon my parents came round, as well as my sister Julie and my niece and two nephews. It was lovely to see them, albeit briefly. Then my parents stayed on and we headed out to Sunday@6 where I was preaching. I think it went fairly well, and it was actually recorded so if you are crazy you can even listen to the sermon from here. Afterwards we came back home and watched “Pillars of the Earth”.

I think that’s pretty much everything for the time being. We’ve got the electrician coming in tomorrow to finish off, and then at some point we’re going to have the additional cupboards installed, but that’s pretty much it. So there you have it – a busy week but worth it given that the house is now warm and we have plenty of hot water!

This week is pretty busy as well what with one thing and another, still we have a few things to look forward to – but more of that some other time!

  • New Boiler

We’re having a new boiler installed this week! This means that the house is pretty much a no-go area. I’ve just taken a couple of photos of what it looks like at the moment but suffice it to say there is stuff strewn everywhere – bits of pipes, carpet, flooring etc! We’re actually staying with some friends of ours – they are on holiday this week so they very kindly offered for us to house sit while our house is out of action.

Anyway, I wanted to post up because I don’t think I’m going to get much of a chance to update my Project 365 photos each day. But just wanted to say I will be taking them and upload them all when we’re back to normal in this house (well, maybe normal is too strong a word… when the boiler is installed!)

So, just thought I’d better update that before anyone mentions anything. In other news, our weekend was pretty good! It was nice not to have to do too much. On Friday night we had the 21 Rollerworld social. It was a really nice evening – I didn’t skate but did play Quasar at the end. I think everyone had a good time and there were no serious injuries (always a positive thing…) Afterwards we went to the Bengal Spice with AJ and Jen which was really nice, we don’t spend enough time with them so whenever we get to socialise together it’s always good. It’s their house we’re staying in this week actually.

On Saturday we did a bit of shopping in the morning, then some sorting out and what have you in the afternoon. In the evening we went round to our neighbours’ house for drinks. Some other people from our road came as well who we know a bit, so in general that was a very pleasant evening!

On Sunday we went to church in the morning and then went to Sunday@6 in the evening. Then we came back home and watched “pillars of the earth”. Most of the rest of the time was spent preparing the house for having the work done today!

So there you have it. That was our weekend. All from me for now…

  • Spiny Flower

Another flower shot today – I think it came out quite well this time! It’s been very wet recently so I don’t know quite what I’m going to do when all the walkways near me start becoming too muddy to walk on. We’ll see.

Hopefully there will be a few places that are dry enough despite the weather! At least it’s been a bit warmer the past few days, it’s been much more pleasant outside.

  • Suspended Spider

This photo came out surprisingly well, given how windy it was and the fact that I couldn’t really see the screen properly!

I don’t quite know what the spider was doing, there wasn’t a web there, but it appeared to be alive. Strange.

Anyway, there you have it: that was day 64!
