We had a bit of an incident at work today! One of our clients rang up asking if I knew anything about a bulletin board system that apparently we’d done for them. Now, we don’t do bulletin board systems. We’ve never written any at all… the reason they wanted to know was because someone had posted up a rather rude / abusive message there, and they wanted to be able to delete it. Oh dear.
It transpired that someone who has now left our company installed the bulletin board on there when he did the installation of our product – leaving no documentation whatsoever about admin passwords etc. Oh dear. Needless to say, it was only after much to-ing and fro-ing that we managed to get it sorted out.
Moral of the story? Never outsource things like that – losing control of a message board in your own company is not good…
