  • Welcome to the Neen O’clock Noise.

“You are the air I breathe
    You are the earth beneath
    You are my destination”

    More on that story later.

I haven’t done much the past couple of days. I can’t be bothered to say all the usual stuff here — suffice it to say that if you’re a regular reader you’ll know the score. And I’m not talking about the football.

Just to let you know that I’m alive… 🙂

  • ChapAss Is Back…

Joe Byrne, the Anglican Chaplaincy Assistant (“ChapAss”) 2003/4 is back. You can read all about it on his blog.

Incidentally, I’d like to thank Simon for wishing me a happy birthday on his blog — even if it was a bit late! I didn’t notice until today because the front page hadn’t been updated (or if it had, it was still cached on my machine).

The last couple of days have been OK, nothing really hard. Newmarket was good, although I wasn’t supposed to be there! The agency neglected to mention that I wasn’t supposed to turn up yesterday as well as today and Monday. Oh well. Still I got the day’s work! There was one other girl from Blue Arrow there (they forgot to tell her as well) and we sorted out something. So I got paid for a day’s work I shouldn’t have had! Not bad 🙂 I had a bit of a cold and felt rough, but I survived.

And today at the football ground was pretty good, wasn’t too busy at all! Certainly not as busy as the England game. Tame by comparison really!

I might have mentioned this before, but oh well. I’m going up to Colchester next Tuesday. I’ll be there probably from early afternoon to early evening (ish)… so if anyone I know is reading this and around in Colchester then, let me know and we might be able to hook up. I’m going just to pick up my house key and drop a few bits off at the house (not much, just really want to see if I need to get anything for the room next year!).

Right, I’m off to bed now…

  • Today and stuff

Today I worked at the Royal Mail Sorting Office. Blast from the past, you might say! It was cool to go back there again. Incredibly boring work, but at least I didn’t have to deal with idiot customers and serve drinks and get rushed off my feet at half time. Speaking of which, the England game … that was OK. I got to watch about 20 minutes of the game. It wasn’t too bad, working behind the bar. Absolutely mental at half time! I tried opening a coule of bottles of beer and accidentally spilled them all over the place, which didn’t really help matters. I’m sure worse has happened before though!

I’m working there again on Saturday. That should be interesting… anyway. And tomorrow I’m working at the racecourse again. My last day there, in fact. Hopefully ever. Woo-hoo!!! So a 7:30 start. Which means I should be heading for bed soon.

So I’ll wrap up this rather rambling blog and head off to sleep. I’ll update again tomorrow or Saturday or something. Whenever I’ve recovered 😉

  • More Morning Sci-Fi News

Well, according to the Hybrid fan website, Morning Sci-Fi is now due to be released on 15th September. Also, they have a single due on 1st September. I don’t know whether to buy the single and then buy the album two weeks later, that might be a bit pointless — just depends if they have any mixes on the single which aren’t going to be on the album!

I just hope they don’t put this one back again…

  • Stuff and Things

Yesterday I went into town. I bought a couple of bits. A new record on Bedrock Breaks (Bedrock – Forge) which is my current favourite tune 🙂 Couple of DVDs as well. “Dead Ringers 1” and “The Fast Show Series 2”. Both fantastic British comedy! “People Like Us Series 2” is coming out in September as well, that’s another one to look out for.

And apart from that I have just been doing the usual stuff. Finished “The Bondage Breaker”, now I’m reading “The Net Commandments” which is basically how to live a righteous virtual life. It seems to be pretty cool!

Blue Arrow rang me up. I’m working at the England game tomorrow, selling hot dogs or whatever. I don’t know yet. They also said that Saturday and Monday Newmarket races had been cancelled. That does mean less money for me, unfortunately, but I’m glad because I wasn’t looking forward to working three long days out of four! I assume I’m still working Friday, and I’m working at the football ground on Saturday doing a similar kind of thing (catering).

I was up late last night working on the Crossring forums. Now they have an extra feature: you can see who is browsing the forums! Took nearly two hours to get working, not sure if it was worth all the effort but ah well.

That about wraps it up for now… I’m off to watch some more of the Fast Show 🙂

  • I’m BACK!!!

Woo-hoo!!! I’m back safely!!! Right then, I’ll try and be relatively brief.

I left on Friday afternoon for Norwich. Long story short, I had to wait two hours for the train. The 1402 train to Norwich was delayed because of the heat, trouble with overhead power cables near London Liverpool Street. Fortunately, I spent an hour waiting with Phil B: he got a train from Colchester to Ipswich so we could at least wait together. It was very hot, but at least we survived!

Anyway. Spent until Monday morning at Phil’s, then it was off on the coach at 7:30 Monday morning. Although the day was quite hot, we were OK in an air conditioned coach 🙂 We got to the Bath and West Showground at about 2:30 that day, and set up camp.

The next part I’ll just skim through: it was really great. The main meetings were probably the best bit, an hours’ worship followed by a talk, then some ministry and more worship. (Incidentally, when I say worship I really mean worship through music — singing. I realise that worship is how we live our lives, not just what we do in church or whatever…)

The seminars were good also. Some really useful stuff there, good practical stuff which I’ll try and remember over the next year or so.

Then back to Phil’s yesterday, and back on the train today. All in all, a really good week, and I now have a couple of CDs to listen to and a book or two to read!

By the way — it’s my birthday today! I am now twenty years of age. I’m not a teenager anymore! Isn’t that weird? Well, OK, only to me, not to anyone else… haven’t done anything special for it, except eat lots of fudge and werther’s original… and a bit of chocolate gateaux as well!

Right then. Time for me to go, I feel. See you later…

  • I’m off today!

The taxi is booked for 3:00 this afternoon, so I’m going to be heading off in a couple of hours. So this is my official “see you in a week or so” post 🙂 Nothing much to say — typical, eh?

If you want to know where I’m off to, have a look on the Soul Survivor Website.

I was going to take some records with me, but it’s actually so incredibly hot I’m thinking about changing my mind… I don’t want to have warped records to deal with! At the same time I’d really like to do some DJing there. I could take a box, that would probably be safer — but the smallest box I have is for 60 and I’m not carrying 60 records around! Ah well, decisions decisions.

So, I shall let you know how it all went in a week or so!

  • Today, and Yesterday…

And Forever?… maybe not. Anyway. Yesterday I didn’t get round to doing much, apart from boil in the sweltering heat. Today was pretty much the same, except that I went into town to pick up a few records.

In really ought to write a bit more of that story I was writing… I think I was around three quarters of the way through the first draft. Still a lot more work to do on it though! At the moment it’s too hot to do anything.

Last night I watched “Die Hard”. I hadn’t seen the original one, I think it was pretty good actually. Action films are good, just mind-numbing — you can just relax and watch them! This evening there are a couple of films on, something like “The Peacemaker” and Arnie’s first film. Incidentally, I don’t think they should let Arnie be governor of California — he’d wreck the place! …

I chatted for Zoe again yesterday. I don’t want to go into the whole background here… basically, I just sent her an email saying what I honestly thought, she sent one back, we chatted for about half an hour. It’s all cool 🙂 We’re gonna be friends…

And that about wraps it up for today. I may or may not get a chance to update during Soul Survivor, I’ll probably post before then (tomorrow or Saturday), but if not — I’ll see you in just over a week!

  • What I’ve Been Up To

    Not MuchTM

There you go! Been watching family guy, read a bit. Finished “Victory Over the Darkness”, very good book! Now I’m reading “The Bondage Breaker”. Chatted to Zoe last night for a while. Um…. think that’s just about it.

Right, I think I’m going to do a bit of mixing for a while before it gets too late.

  • More detailed “I’m Alive”…

Ok. Friday and Saturday were pretty similar. On Friday, I got to the bus stop just before 12:30… there were about 16 Blue Arrow people, but we also picked up some people from Bury (half-way there). The journey took about an hour and twenty minutes. When I got there, I signed in and was given a ‘uniform’ (just a tie and an apron) and told to go to the Moorstyle Marquee. That was where I was to be working for the whole day. at Newmarket, they have Marquees which are divided up into ‘Chalets’. These can be hired out to companies who want to go out for a day’s racing. The particular chalet I was working in had a local company in. They had a champagne reception, a meal (don’t know how many courses, depends if you include coffee and cheese & biscuits as a course…), followed by the racing and the band. My job was to look after the bar throughout the evening — which I hadn’t done before. Long story short, I learnt how to make a gin and tonic, mix a Pimms, open a bottle of Champagne, and in general work a bar to an extent. There wasn’t any draught beer there though, so I wouldn’t like to work in a pub just yet 😉 The coach arrived back in Ipswich at about 1:15 AM Saturday morning – and I had to walk back home – so I had about four and a half hours sleep. You understand why I was rather tired! I did get to see Status Quo though, while they were playing almost everybody was outside watching them so I was able to dance away inside. I think I entertained a few people that way 😉

Yesterday was more of the same kind of thing, just in a different place. Working a bar, but I had to help out with waiting as well. It was a smaller group of people (about 16 as opposed to 40), so it was much quieter. Apart from a small hiccup (the clients wanted a full bar instead of just wine / water / orange juice…) it went OK. I don’t know why managers are so uptight… becoming a manager seems to mean that you automatically become a bit harsh as well. Especially when they’re stressed, although I guess everybody does have a tendency to get short when they’re stressed. Not physically…

Anyway. I’m sure you didn’t really want to read all of that, but I thought I’d tell you anyway! It was worth it, the money’s good and I’ve got a few tips 🙂

In other news… Simon asked me a few days ago if I wanted to go and see the Reduced Shakespeare Company in Colchester. I said yes, so I’m going to see them in November (the 14th, I think). Looking forward to it, they’re meant to be really funny! And… not much more to say. Church today was good. My parents are on holiday for a couple of weeks, so I’ve got the house to myself for this week, and then I’m off to Soul Survivor next week! I tried to ask PhilB when he was going back to Norwich (I could go back with him; to get from Colchester to Norwich you pass through Ipswich) but with his usual response times he didn’t get around to replying while I was still online. I’ll ask him again this week…

That’s all for now folks! Laterz…
