  • Saturday

Ok, after I post this blog I’m going to work on a system for adding comments. Because I can. Yeah! Anyway. Today I’ve been mainly watching… films. I went round to Foz’s to watch “Essex Boys” followed by “Die Another Day”, and then he came round to watch “Say is isn’t So”. In between all that we managed to watch some of the Simpsons and have dinner… fun fun fun!

And I haven’t really done much else. Will have a revision blitz on Monday, get my computer graphics learnt 🙂 This would not be a good time to discover that I have a big problem with part of the course. Having said that, the past papers seem OK…

  • Hmmmmm

Ok. I’m currently sitting in the chaplaincy with Anne-Marie, Alex and Mad Welshman Phil. We’ve just come from Cheesy Tunes. I have to say… they did start out playing some really cheesy stuff. It was good 🙂 Then about half-way through the time I was there, they started playing some non-cheese. Hmmmm. I wouldn’t mind if they’d played the cheese at the end, but playing it at the beginning… well it’s turning into Spin! Grrr.

Oh well. “Rat Race” and “Essex Boys” arrived through the post this morning from play.com, so I’ll probably watch Rat Race when I get back home. It’s an absolutely fantastic film! One of the best comedies of recent times.

This afternoon I did actually manage to get some revision done. I started going through a databases past paper, which had the answers on it (well, they were more revision notes but whatever.) That was quite useful…

And hopefully I’m going to see Matrix Reloaded on Friday! I’ve heard that it’s an excellent film, I loved the original version so I’m looking forward to seeing the next one. Right, that’s just about it… all for now. Seeya…

  • Barbeque… in the rain!

Today the CU and COSCI put on a barbeque by the lake. I headed down at about 12:00 to help set up, the actual thing started at 1:00. Although I left around 1:45ish, there were loads of people there! I think they were actually heading off to get some more food because so many people came. It was great! Lots of international students.

And at the moment I’m sitting in a computer lab (bet you hadn’t guessed that one!) trying to avoid doing yet more revision. Some of you must be wondering at this rate how on earth I will manage to pass my exams, judging by the amount of prevarication that I’m doing. Well, I don’t know… still got a couple of days before my first exam tho 😉

This evening apparently Simon is going to cheesy tunes. And possibly Spin afterwards! Well, I wasn’t planning on going to Spin but I might be convinced if enough people are going down there…

  • The rest of today

As you may well have guessed from my last entry, I didn’t actually do anything exciting today. Well, not on the revision front at least. Not that any revision I do IS exciting, but there you have it.

I came out of the computer lab, went down to the chaplaincy and was recruited to put posters up for the CU barbeque we’re having tomorrow at 1PM by the lake! Be there or be a four-sided shape with sides of equal length!

Yes. Then I went back down to the chap and chatted to people for a while. Then I went to Top Bar with Mad Welshman Phil. Actually, that’s not exactly true — we went to the SU bar to have some food and a drink, then went up to Top Bar. Then I went to my 5:00 lecture, wonderful stuff. Then onto theology seminar, entitled cunningly “Everything you ever wanted to know about celibacy but were too afraid to ask”. Father Martin, our local catholic chaplain, did that one. It was actually pretty good, the unfortunate side effect being that I am now worried about single, alone and unloved somewhere in a ditch and no-one notices my death for days… (or just dying as a bachelor. Same thing really.)

Yes. Um, then I came home, stopping off at Joe’s on the way to watch the Mafia episode of “Family Guy”. Now I might try and do some song lyric re-writing or perhaps just some remixing… I don’t know yet… 🙂

  • Sitting in a computer lab wondering what to do

At the moment I’m sitting in a computer lab not exactly sure of what I should do next. I was thinking about going to the library and reading my robot programming course book, but unfortunately both copies are out. Not good.

So I’m probably just going to sit here in a computer lab for a while, then go down to the chaplaincy, chat to people, and generally not do much before my lecture at 5:00. I could go home but I suppose I’d better go given that it’s my last revision lecture of all my courses! Scary stuff or what… still, I am feeling a little more ready for exams than I did a couple of weeks ago, which is always a good thing!

  • Hello, hello, hello, hello

Sorry, just listening to Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit 🙂 Um, what have I been up to today then? Not all that much really. This morning I got up… then I tried to do some revision, which basically resulted in me mucking around on the internet. I did, however, find out that DJ Source was back up. Now, long story short — I registered on the DJ Source forums about two years ago (March 2001) and was a fairly regular contributor, especially in the first term or so at uni. Anyway, it’s been down for about a year now… until today. It came back online! I used to spend hours on that site… it coming back online is NOT what I needed just before exams! It’s really good to see some of the old names back again… although I didn’t know anyone personally, it just goes to show that the internet CAN create a community!

Anyway, back to today. This afternoon I went round to see Joe and Foz and watched “Zoolander” with them. It was my DVD, I’ve probably written what I thought about it on this blog before so I won’t bother repeating myself (it’s pretty good 🙂

Then into town to the Playhouse with my fusion group. This was a social, my housemate Jerry and Paul’s housemate Bod came along, as well as the usual crowd (me, Becca, Paul, Anne-Marie, Richard, Philippa). Then we went onto campus to the SU bar and then Top Bar. Fun fun fun!

    Ok, I’m tired now… I’m going to bed soon…

  • More pictures, sort of

Simon’s taken some of the best pictures from a variety of sources (including the ones on this site) and put them on his. Why don’t you hop on over and take a look? If you really want to, that is…

  • Today

I tried to post an update earlier but for some reason it wouldn’t let me. Grrr. Anyway, I haven’t done that much today. Went into town this morning, bought one record (new one by Neo & Farina called ‘Someone’, it also has a re-version of Binary Finary’s 1999).

Then I came back home and did revision. I’m feeling a lot more confident about the exams then I did, it looks like I’m going to at least pass some of them! Woo-hoo!!!

Then it was CU this evening. Committee feedback time, from the away day we had a couple of weeks ago. That was an interesting evening, it looks like stuff is going to be changing next year but perhaps not as much as we thought! Basically the gist was trying to fit too much into too little (i.e. condensing some of the stuff into Fusion / Main Meetings) is assuming that people try and go to too much anyway. If we left it as it was — or like we envision it with perhaps some modifications — but actively encouraged people to do more / less individually as we thought was best for them would be better than, um, whatever it was I was talking about at the beginning of this sentence which has seemed to go on for a long time now.

Oh well. I’m off to Top Bar and then home, good night all! Unless I post later. Which I doubt (although I have got a day off tomorrow, and…)

  • Don’t you just love computer scientists?

Particularly the way that they mess around with the English language. For example, I’ve been looking through some of my Robot Programming notes about control theory, and one of the things was about Fuzzy Logic.

    They’ve invented a new word:

    “fuzzification”

    ain’t that just great? Hmmm….

  • This morning and stuff and more stuff and I say …

Woo-hoo! I don’t really know why. I just felt a bit random this morning. Came onto campus for my lecture at 12:00 (Embedded Processors). It’s very scary — I only have a week left before my first exam (next Tuesday)! Oh well. I feel a bit more ready for exams than I did anyway.

Haven’t done much else really. I should do some revision, but… I’m going to have chaplaincy lunch and then go into town. Fun fun fun!

I found an interesting site today: Matrix Essays (blog) basically does exactly what it says on the title. Essays about the film “The Matrix.” Interesting stuff… especially this one, which is about The Matrix and Religion — although of course it isn’t exactly a new topic.
