  • Tired… sleep… fish…

Ah well. What have I done since sitting in a computer lab this morning? Well, I had lunch in the bar with Matthew. I went to my Java revision lecture (oh fun! Or should that be funge? Hmmm.) Then I came back home. Me and Naomi spent the afternoon together. Last year we made a chillout CD which proved to be quite successful, this year we’re doing the same thing. We basically just picked some tracks for the new CD, it’s looking good 🙂

Then we went back to uni. I had dinner in Sizzlers with Simon, Liz, Becca, Naomi and towards the end a few more people came as well (who’d just got back from Spring Harvest). Andy B spoke at CU tonight, and it was a very good talk! Although everyone seemed a little bit lethargic because it had been a very hot day and some people had been travelling etc. Still, good message! We need to be serious Christians and go out there and live the life!

Then I came back home, got a lift with Simon, stopped off at Tesco on the way home. Ah, I am very tired, I might go to bed soon! I didn’t feel too bad on getting up this morning, but I didn’t have a good night’s sleep last night (think I was a bit excited about being back and stuff).

    Well. I’m off now! Bye…

  • Admit it. You missed these stupid random posts.

Yep, I’m currently sitting in a computer lab in between lectures! I did manage to get up OK for my 9:00 lecture today. I was quite pleased — although I have found that it’s a lot easier to get up in the summer than in the winter (it was actually fairly light when I got up this morning and not too cold!)

So yes. Firstly of all CC255 Operating Systems and Networks, followed by CC256 Computer Graphics. Oh the fun of revision! Still, I am beginning to actually remember stuff now which I guess is the point and is painfully necessary. C’est la vie. Now another two-hour wait between lectures, another hour and a half to go before my last lecture for today. Then CU this evening. Great 😉

  • Today

Wasn’t a very exciting day, although I did more than I’ve done for most of the past month…

Came back to Colchester about 3:00. Unpacked (which was fun), then had a fiasco with the internet. For some reason Jerry’s linux server has gone down, which means that I’ve had to fiddle around and basically get the internet working through his main computer. Took a while to do (was on the phone to him for quite a while) but eventually it seems to have worked out, hence I’m posting this blog now!

Um, nothing else really exciting happened today. I watched a program about that guy who cheated on Millionaire — I can’t believe how audacious they were! That’s really not on. Just shows what happens when greed takes over…

9:00 lecture tomorrow morning! Fun fun fun! Hence, I shall be going to bed! Ah, operating systems and networks… what fun… NOT!!! Hehe.

  • Back in Colchester now!

That’s right! I am now back in Colchester. The journey was good, not that I was expecting it to be good or bad (it’s fairly short, only about 30-40 minutes).

I’m currently enjoying a cable connection, it’s good just to be able to check emails and surf the internet without having to worry about clogging up the phone line 🙂

    Anyway, that’s all for now… more later… maybe…

  • HAPPY EASTER! And Back to uni tomorrow!

The next blog I post here will be from Colchester, all good fun!

Happy Easter everybody! I hope that you had a good day (and weekend in general) (including bank holiday tomorrow) (so I hope that you have a good day tomorrow as well). This morning I went to Church, it was a family service. It was good to sing the ol’ Easter songs again!

This afternoon I did some packing, went out for a walk, did some mixing, um… nothing much else really! I lead such a fantastically exciting life… hmmm.

I’m gonna head off to bed soon, I’m probably going to go into town one last time before heading off to Colchester in the afternoon.

    See you later, manGZ

  • Saturday

Haven’t really done much today. Went to Staples earlier to have a look at the price of computer desk type things, as I’m going to need one in the house that I’m going to be in next year. Fun fun fun!

Um, spent a while working on a website… did a bit of reading… did a bit of revision (that’s all my notes gone over once this holiday!)

Oh the fun. You know, I really can’t be bothered to say much now. I’ve run out of things to say for this holiday… I can’t wait to get back to uni and get those exams over and done with! I’m not looking forward to it, but might as well face it with grim determination… hmmm.

    That’s all folks!

  • Johnny English

Yep, I went to see it today with Mike (aka Bridges). I really enjoyed it! I have to say that’s probably one of the best family comedies of recent times; “family” in the sense that it doesn’t involve excessive bad language / sex / violence. Most of the humour these days seems to involve a fair amount of most of those, but this one didn’t — nice one Rowan Atkinson et al!

After watching the film, I came back, spent some time chatting to Mike. Then I had tea and worked in FruityLoops for a bit on my Happy Hardcore song… it’s coming along quite well! I’ve learnt how to use the TB-303 and effects, which has improved the sound quite a lot 🙂

And that’s all I have to say for the moment.

  • Thursday’s Blog

I won’t bother typing much out tonight. I didn’t do much of note today (apart from the usual stuff) except get my hair cut. I thought it would be a good idea to get it cut, especially as I’m going back to university on Monday and the barber’s doesn’t re-open until Tuesday…

Talking of going back to uni, I’m both really looking forward to going back and dreading it at the same time. Looking forward to it because I’ll be with all my friends again etc etc (I really enjoy uni life) — but dreading it because I’ve got exams coming up this term which I’m really not looking forward to! I have been revising and over the course of this holiday I’ve been through all my notes once (at least for the first five courses; the other two I’ve done more recently). That just scared me though, because it made me realise just how much I have to learn… Ah well.

Oh, and today I read an article in The Times (and watched the “Horizon” they mention at the end of the article) about something called “Neurotheology.” It’s basically that scientists have found a part of the brain (the temporal lobe) which, when stimulated, seems to produce a “religious experience.” It can be taken in different ways, but the atheist scientists out there seem to be taking it as evidence that we ‘evolved’ the need for God — that we do have a deep-seated need for God in ourselves but this doesn’t actually come from the fact that God created us, rather that we evolved like that for some reason… hmmmm. Oh well. Oh, and I found this linked to from the article — it’s quite funny, you should give it a read 🙂

Right, I think that’s me done here. Peace out.

  • Another picture? Wow!

Yep, another picture! But this time, I thought I’d let you know what all the Warcraft III stuff is about. While it’s uploading, I’ll tell you (a) this is actually Wednesday’s blog, not Thursday’s (as the date will show); (b) what I did today.

This morning my records arrived from Juno! I have to give Juno a quick plug here — they are fantastic. I’ve ordered quite a bit of stuff from them and it’s always arrived on time without any hitches! The staff are helpful too. If you’re into dance music of virtually any kind, visit them! They’re good 🙂 Just in case you’re interested, the records which arrived were Oceanlab – Beautiful Together [Captivating Sounds] and Svenson & Gielen – Beachbreeze [ID&T]. And I like them both!

Anyway. It’s been so incredibly hot today, I went out for a walk (as usual) — but this time I’m sure that I came back browner than I went out… heh, doubtful! Anyway. Um, and really just the usual stuff again… I’m more than half-way through “Out of the saltshaker…” now! In fact, I’d say I was two thirds the way through. Did some Java Programming revision as well, shock! horror! Didn’t go through it in any detail though, skipped over the parts about stacks / queues (the boring stuff, which we had to do in mind-numbing detail. It’s still mind-numbing…)

I’m probably going to watch “Johnny English” on Friday with Bridges (Michael). Rowan Atkinson is a genius, I saw him on Parkinson a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully it will include some Blackadder style stuff, not just Mr. Bean…

And here’s the picture you’ve been waiting for! This is a picture of part of the map that I’m working on at the moment. It’s kind of hard to get screenshots with Warcraft, because maps are rather big. Still, I guess these things happen.

    Map 'Castle Argh'...

That’s all for now folks! See you later…

  • This is the longest and most meaningless title of any blog yet

At least, I think so. Oh well. So, what did I get up to today then? Nothing much really. I do have a new word of the week though (and not in the Crossring sense…):

    pseudotransitivity

I have no idea what it means! Something about WA -> WB -> X is the same as WA -> WX. I don’t know! I didn’t go to any of those lectures… that was the first time I read through the notes today. Guess who’s going to be going to all the revision lectures? 😉

Um, and there’s not really much else to say of note — just the usual. I did a great mix, I wish I’d recorded it now… really energetic trance mix. Started off with Yahel – Voyage (DJ Tiesto’s Magikal Remake) and finished with Marc et Claude – Lovin’ You ’03 (Marco V Remix). Ah, I’d love the chance to DJ out! Properly, that is, not just as background music… somewhere like Gatecrasher. Oh well, I can always dream.

    All for now, folks!
