For Phill, it was a normal Tuesday…
… and for everyone else, he has no idea, but assumes it was pretty normal for them as well.
I am currently sitting in a computer science lab prevaricating. I know that I have to do some work but I’ve got ages. Oh yes. I’m going for pancakes at Paul’s house at 6, before CU, which should be fun. Pancakes are always good providing someone else is making them for you. If you’re making them yourself you say you have the satisfaction of cooking something yourself, but of course in my case that means you have a pretend satisfaction because in reality they’re just horrible. Not that I’ve ever really tried making pancakes… ok, I’ll shut up now.
And why do I keep making typos today? For some reason I keep swapping letters around on my right typing hand. Not to mention adding the odd letter in. You won’t notice this, of course, because I just keep having to correct it, but it is annoying. Of course I am a prefect speler.
Anyway. All aboard for the group project train! I’ve just picked up the first part from the general office… 67% which isn’t bad, considering that we weren’t expecting to get all that much (well, I didn’t even know if the thing had been handed in…)
Anyway. All’s fair in love and war. I might re-design this blog at some point, I’ve just been looking at some of the really nice designs people have been coming out with and they rock! This one I’m happy with (it’s fairly basic) but it could use some improvement. Ah well, I guess the grass is always greener…
Later, my fine blog-reading friends.

Ah, the fun of Java
Well, after the last post I had a rather fun early evening programming my second java assignment. It’s taking shape… doesn’t have to be in for two and a half weeks, but might as well get ahead of the game! Got a couple of other things to be going on with so the earlier it’s done the better.
Anyway. Then I went round to the CYO Office, to play some tunes with Rich which was good fun. It’s good just to chill out with some good music! Although the music isn’t “chillout” but… you know what I mean 😉
Now I’ve come back, spent some time chatting to random people on MSN and I’m going to start reading this book I bought over the weekend, “The Cross of Christ.” I think it’s about doctrine and about the centrality of the Cross to the Christian message. It looks pretty good.
Then I’m going to go to bed!
I lead such an incredibly fascinating life, don’t I? ……

I’m getting slack!
I’m starting to get slack at updating these things! It must be because I actually have some work to do! :-O
Anyway. What have I been up to today? In to uni for an embedded processors lecture at 11:00. Programming the Lego Mindstorms kits in Java… the mind boggles. Ironically Java is almost one of the worst languages to use on the platform it was designed for – embedded processors. The reason? You don’t have enough memory control. With a language like C you can control everything pretty tightly; Java just uses oodles of memory (although having said that, it’s a great idea, I think Microsoft have adopted it with Visual Studio.NET where everything gets compiled to a common language runtime and then run on a Virtual Machine. But anyway…)
Then down to the lab, where I (tried to) program a PIC microcontroller in assembly language, with not much success. The second assignment looks pretty hard… I guess it’s one of those things which you just have to spend lots of time on until something comes together. I spent the whole two hours trying to get the LCD screen to display “Please Enter Code” — and didn’t even succeed. Grrr. After that, an hour’s java lab… that was fun. Oh yes.
Then I went into town… did some record shopping. Here’s the usual list of what I bought:
- Push – Universal Nation 2003 [UK Bonzai]
Doesn’t sound that much different to Universal Nation 2002 (flipside of Tranceformation). And I think the Ferry Corsten remix is exactly the same as the original release. Still, as I don’t have a copy of the original one this was a good buy! 🙂 - Subsola – So Pure [Polarstate]
Nice tune. Not one of those ones which you listen to and then think “absolutely blinding” but it’s a good track nonetheless, a cut above some of the stuff that’s kicking around at the moment. - Solar Stone – Solarcoaster [Lost Language]
Yet another good tune to come out on Lost Language! I heard this tune in on of Tiesto’s sets a while back… it’s really nice, I’m glad I picked this one up. I got the Midway / Original mix disc… there’s another disc with a Steve Murano remix on it but I wasn’t too impressed — it was a bit different to his usual style. - David Forbes – Questions [Serious]
Another one I heard in a Tiesto set. You have to pitch it up a bit, but one nice tune 🙂
Anyway. I’m going to try and get on with some work in between chatting to Foz on MSN and perhaps reading “The Cross of Christ” by John Stott, a book which was recommended to me at the UCCF Training Weekend (see my last post).
This has been quite a long blog! Oh well, I guess these things happen…

UCCF Training Weekend (and stuff)
Well, that was a pretty good weekend! It was very challenging. The speaker (I’m afraid I only know his name was “John”, didn’t catch the surname! Sorry!) was very good, and there were good times of fellowship both in the main group and in the small groups that we were in. I think all of us that went on the weekend (me, Sheri, Louise, Matthew and Esther) have come away with some good ideas and have been challenged to do more evangelism in the CU!
One thing that really struck me is that evangelism isn’t something that should be done in addition (in some cases, almost a poor second) to what the CU “normally” does. Evangelism should be an integral part of everything that the CU does: we grow in maturity as Christians through evangelism:
“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.”
Philemon 1:6Notice the “so that”. Firstly we share our faith, then we have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ… pretty cool stuff!
So yeah, good weekend, challenging but hopefully the CU are going to share our vision of evangelism. This time last year we made a few changes which has lead to doing tower evangelism three times a term; hopefully this time we’re going to get more going on!

I’m Back!!!! Muahahahaha!!!
Just making a short post for the moment. Have just got back from a great committee training weekend — very tired though, literally only been out of the car for about five minutes! This is just in case Mr Lucas decides to read this and thinks I don’t care 😉
I will make a more in-depth post later today, I just have to get myself together.

It HAS worked OK 🙂
Just a quick note to tell you that the server changeover appears to be working fine, but this will unfortunately be my last post for a while! I hope that you can handle not hearing from me for a couple of days…
Heh. Committee was fun this morning. Oh yes. But then again, it’s always fantastically exciting stuff. Take it easy…

Changing of Servers
If you can read this, the server change has worked OK 🙂 I’m just changing over to a new server on OpenHosting account!
Anyway. I didn’t do much today… went round to Foz and Joe’s to watch “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” followed by “The Fast and the Furious” (with an hour of the Simpsons in between). Not a bad day really 😉
This will be the last blog from me until Sunday evening because I’m going away for the weekend. UCCF run a training weekend for CU Committees, which I’m attending for the second year running. That should be fun!
So, it’s over and out for this week! See you soon.

Oh, and I don’t know how I forgot, but…
One of my friends has gone to do a gap year (well, eight months) in South Africa. He couldn’t update his old site on BTOpenWorld from out there, so I set him up a Blog which is now hosted on this server.
The URL of his site is www.umtata.co.uk (which just leads back to this server) and the Blog is at /umtata/news.html.

Nearly missed today out! Shocking!
I just haven’t been online all day. I haven’t really done much though… went in to uni for a group project meeting at 1:00. We finally got something organised… that was rather fun. Then I went round to watch “Family Guy” with Foz and Joe. That was great, Family Guy is so funny! There are some classic lines in there.
“Roger… how ironic, it almost rhymes with e-li-mi-nate…”
Anyway. Then I had my fusion group this evening looking at Philippians chapter 3. That was rather good. Then I came home via Tescos, and watched “The Rock” — not a bad film 😉 And, um, that’s it.
Yay.
That’s all folks…
