Weekendy type things

It’s probably a bit late really to be posting up my regular “The Weekend” post. So I’ll just post up a couple of other random things instead!

I bought a couple of new CDs at the weekend: “Stop the Clocks” by Oasis, and “Black Holes and Revelations” by Muse. The Oasis album is great – it’s got a good cross-section of their songs on it, and brings back a few memories… there’s not much to say about it really! The Muse album I’ve listened to a few times now. I didn’t think it was quite as good as their first two albums when I first listened to it, but it’s actually been growing on me. I think ‘Starlight’ is my favourite tune on there at the moment – it has such a catchy piano riff! So, yes, those are a couple of new musical purchases.

On a totally different note, I noticed something recently. You know how in the past, BMW drivers and “White Van” drivers have had a bad reputation for being… well… a little inconsiderate on the roads? I’m not sure how well that holds any more, but I have started to notice that there is a not insignificant number of Ford Focus drivers who are behaving a little discourteously. This is a bit of a mystery to me, because I don’t think the Ford Focus is the kind of car you would expect to see that kind of driver in. Well, no more than average, at least.

If anyone has any insights on badly behaved Ford Focus drivers, post them up here!

  1. The new Muse album is definitely a change of direction for them – but as you say with tunes like “Starlight” (amaaazing) “Invincible” (eeeeeeeexcellent) and “Knights of Cydonia” (outstaaaaaaaaaanding),
it’s still a pretty fine album … Which other albums have you got? There’s “Showbiz”, “Origin of Symmetry” and “Absolution”.

My parents drive a Ford Focus, as does my former vicar and some very good friends at church – perhaps exceptions who prove the rule?

  2. Hi Joe,

I’ve got ‘Origin of Symmetry’ and ‘Absolution’, I really like those! I’ll have to look out for ‘Showbiz’ as well, I haven’t actually seen that in the shops for some reason! Maybe a trip to play.com beckons…

Hmmm, my next door neighbour also drives a Ford Focus. He seems nice enough, although I’ve never seen him drive… perhaps it’s only a small proportion of Ford Focus drivers in Colchester who drive like they own the road!

  3. My friend used to drive a ford focus and he drived alright. When he changed cars I never saw any kind of change in his driving so dunno if the car changes you in some way
