  • Personality Tests

Well, I’ve just read on Simon’s Blog that he’s taken a personality test, and is apparently a ‘Mastermind’. They are, apparently, the most uncommon personality type in the UK. I think it describes Simon quite well, although obviously not perfectly and completely! I have just taken the personality test, and apparently am a ‘Realist’… I think some of the things are relatively accurate, although some of them are less so (that’s what you get with personality tests, it’s all a little bit vague!). You can read what I’m supposed to be like — based on my answers to the survey questions — here, and you can take the test yourself

My interview has been confirmed, so I will be taking the job interview on Monday after all! Tomorrow I’m going up to Colchester, and hopefully will be bringing Philippa back with me (she’s dropping some stuff off at her house).

    All for now!

  • News?

I don’t know, there might be a slight danger of news! – which is, I’ve (hopefully) got an interview on Monday! It’s with a company in Felixstowe. I say hopefully because they have yet to email me and confirm, I expect that to happen tomorrow.

Also, I have written a Goon Show script, which you can now read on FictionPress. And if you like it, write a review!

I don’t think there’s much else to say now, so I’ll leave it for the time being…

  • General Stuff And Things

Yes. I haven’t been doing very much recently (hence why I’ve not been posting much here!). On Monday I went out with my parents to Rendlesham Forest for a walk, and then we went into Woodbridge for an ice-cream before heading back home.

Today, Kevvy B came down from Norwich. We went for lunch at the Golden Lion in town, before doing a bit of shopping (I bought some new shoes, and Kev bought a new jacket), and then went to the cinema to see Dodgeball. I’d heard some positive reviews of it, and I like Ben Stiller stuff in general, so I thought it would be good! I wasn’t disappointed. It was probably the funniest Ben Stiller film I’ve ever seen, and definitely one of the funniest films to come out in recent months. I’d recommend it to anyone! It’s definitely a film that I will be seeing when it comes out on DVD, that’s for sure!

Speaking of which, Shaun of the Dead is coming out on DVD next Monday. I’ve got my copy on order from Play.com. And speaking of ordering things from the internet, I ordered some records yesterday which arrived this morning. So I’ll have to do some DJing soon 🙂

I’ve also been doing a bit of writing — I’ve started on a Goon Show script. If you don’t know what the Goon Show is (or rather, was) – don’t ask! I was just talking to Matthew last night, and it sparked off the idea. I’ll probably upload it to my page on FictionPress when it’s finished. If it gets finished (hmmm…)

Incidentally, I have finished reading “Not Evangelical Enough”, edited by Iain Taylor. It’s a very good book, and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who would call themselves an evangelical Christian! It’s all about keeping the gospel at the centre, and it’s quite challenging 🙂

Right, I think that’s about it from me. All for now…

  • The internet is getting polluted

I’ve just read an interesting article on The Register.

The Internet is getting clogged up with viruses, spam, and other unwanted junk. When is it going to end? This situation has to come to a head at some point. The internet bubble of a few years ago has definitely burst, it has been flooded with information — most of which is mere noise. Take this blog for example. It’s not particularly useful! The only people who I ever expect to read it are people who know me. And yet, consistently I receive hits from people who have been searching for something on a search engine such as Google. Ok, so that’s not a huge amount, but I guess by writing this stuff I’m contributing to the entropy of the internet.

In summary, the internet is a victim of its own success. Everybody who has access to an internet terminal now has a voice, unfortunately this means that finding information you are looking for is becoming harder and of course there is an abundance of unwanted information such as viruses.

How long until the internet dies an untimely death? Well, I don’t think it will ever die an untimely death, it’s far too useful! But things will have to change. And quickly. Bring on the revolution!

  • An Interview with the Karma Chameleon

I wrote this quite some time ago, and I think I meant to put it on my blog but never got around to it, so if you’ve heard it before I do apologise! The idea came to me in the shower one day (as these things do)… incidentally, ‘Karma Chameleon’ is from the song by Culture Club, which is where all the KC’s quotes come from!

A Job Interview with the Karma Chameleon

Interviewer: “Ah, good morning. What is your name?”

Karma Chameleon: “Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon.”

I: “Goodness, what a long name! — I’ll just call you Mr. Chameleon. So, Mr. Chameleon, you’re here to apply for a travelling salesman.”

KC: “Desert loving in your eyes all the way!”

I: “Uh, yes, we do operate around some desert areas. Not sure about the loving though… anyway. We need our drivers to know what they are doing, so could you briefly explain to me your idea of being a travelling salesman?”

KC: “You come and go, you come and go”

I: “Yes, that’s not too bad — you do come and go I suppose. Of course, we need to make sure that our drivers aren’t colour blind — what colour are traffic lights?”

    KC: “Red, gold and green”

I: “Close — it’s actually red, amber and green. But close enough. Mr. Chameleon, we need our sales reps to be people of integrity. Are you a man of integrity?”

KC: “I’m a man who doesn’t know how to sell a contradiction.”

I: “Ah good. I’m glad about that. Uh, how long would you be prepared to work for us?”

KC: “When you go you’re gone forever”

I: “Wow, you’re very dedicated! Just one more thing, Mr. Chameleon. Do you have any criminal record?

    KC: “I’m a man without convictions…”

I: “That’s fantastic! Well, I’m happy to say that you’ve got the job! (to another man who also applied for the job) Mr. Lizard! Yes, I’m sorry, you haven’t got the job.”

KC: (turning round to look at Mr. Lizard) “You’ve my lover, not my rival…”

    Mr. Lizard: (runs…)

So there you go… I hope you enjoyed that! All for now, folks…

  • Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned

The Prodigy is back! I got the album this morning. The question on my mind was, “Does the album live up to expectations?” Well, yes and no. If you’re expecting “The Fat of the Land 2”, you’d probably be disappointed. This is less melody-driven then that album; however it’s a lot more down and dirty and electro.

If you’re a fan of the big beat prodigy style, you’ll probably like this.

    Rating: 7/10

  • A couple of good websites

I’ve found a couple of good websites, to do with defending Christianity (as it were). The first one is God and Science, which has a lot of good stuff on there!

The second is Apologetics Information Ministry.

Although I haven’t looked around them comprehensively (and thus can’t vouch for everything they say!) the pages that I have looked at seem to be pretty good.

In other news — still no news! Take it easy…

  • Joe Blogs!

My good friend Joe (from Essex Uni) has started a new blog. You can find it on Blogspot.

Incidentally, I’ve just been looking at my Blogger profile. Apparently I average about 5 blogs per week. That seems a bit high to me! Ah well, I guess some weeks I just write a lot more random rubbish than others…

Over and over and over and out (or something…)

  • So, what’s been happening?

Apologies for not updating the past week. Last Wednesday, I went down to Petts Wood to stay with Philippa. The reason was (well, not that I need a reason to see her, but the reason I went down this particular week) was because Sarah and Jon were getting married on the Friday (20th August).

So, yes – it was great. I really enjoyed the day; it was a lovely service and it was great at the reception to be able to catch up with people! There were lots of people there from university, so I knew quite a few people. We drove from Petts Wood to Wokingham, to my Aunt’s house. Although we were only driving in Phil’s little Metro we managed to get there safely and without incident! Ditto the way back. Um, yes.

But I would like to say, congratulations to Jon + Sarah, and I wish them all the best for the future! As they’re in Colchester next year I’m sure that I’ll see them again quite soon. Incidentally, if you want to see some photos of the day they are on then they are on the photographer’s website [Warning: you may find the background music annoying and you can’t turn it off. So don’t blame me for not warning you.]

I think that’s about it for now; I had a call from an IT agency today about work. Hopefully I’ll have some more positive news about that soon!

Oh, one more thing: I got a new computer keyboard for my birthday last week (thanks Phil!). It’s really cool – it’s luminescent! Check it out on ThinkGeek. The only trouble I’ve had with it so far is that it’s different to my previous keyboard, meaning that it’s just strange. (Yeah, I know, nothing wrong with the keyboard – just me getting used to it.) Oh, and it’s the American keyboard layout, but seeing as that’s virtually the same as the British keyboard layout I don’t think that’s muchof a problem. I know where pretty much everything is anyway. Right, I think that’s about it. Again.

    Talk to you later, folks…

  • Hmmm, films repeated?

I was looking at the tv listings last week, and I noticed that both ‘Hot Shots’ and ‘Die Hard’ were on TV. Now, I seem to remember that I watched both of those films at about this time last year. Is there some kind of rota for these things?

    Hmmm… nah.

    As you were.
