  • I’ve been slack again…

I do most humbly apologise! Well, not really, but it keeps the hundreds of fans quiet (yeah right…) (about the fans, not keeping them quiet)

What have I been up to since Tuesday? Well, not a whole lot really. Is that a good enough answer? I think it is.

I’m afraid I’m feeling a bit ill; I have a cold of some description and so I’m not really in the mood for typing out much. There’s an “Anti-Valentine’s” film on in the chaplaincy starting… well, about now, but I can’t make it 🙁 Ah well, these things happen I guess. I’ll probably watch a film here soonish, and then get some sleep!

    All for now…

  • One more thing…

What Joe and Matthew get up to when no-one turns up for Christianity Explained.

    Hmmmmmm.

  • Right then

What have I been doing with myself? Not a lot, to be honest. Sunday: went to Fordham in the morning; in the afternoon prepared Fusion for this week, went onto campus for an event called ‘too many DJs’. I got to DJ at the beginning and at the end. It’s all good fun!

Yesterday… I went onto campus for chaplaincy lunch, then I had my 2-4 robotics lab (that was actually quite good for a change — taught us how to use the vision system on the pioneer robots, and now means that I’m slightly more able to complete the assignent than I was before…). And, um, yeah — that’s just about it for the day. In the evening we went to the pub and then watched ‘Terminator 2’ — quite a good film, actually! If that’s your sort of thing…

Today, I came onto campus for my 9:00 meeting about the final year project. I’m actually not doing too badly on the whole project schedule; whilst I probably could be further on in general terms the coding is getting there and I’m beginning to reach a position where I’d be happy to leave it. Anyway. I basically spent the whole day in csclab5, just working on the coding… my brain is pretty fried now, I can tell you! I’ve just had a CC371 class as well, which hasn’t helped. I think I might give CU a miss tonight, I don’t really feel up to it! Would be nice just to spend the night at home and chill.

Ah well. I think that’s just about it for now; I’ll update again when I can be bothered…

  • Friday and Saturday

Well, Friday and half of Saturday. Yesterday, I went onto campus for my 11:00 lecture. Then did some work for a couple of hours. Then went to my 2:00 lecture. Then did some more work for an hour. Then went onto Philippa’s, had dinner, watched some TV, stayed there the night, went for a walk this morning around the fields around Avon Way (very nice, actually) and came onto campus to do my radio show.

Oh, and this evening I might be going to Andy C and Rich’s place for a bonfire type thingy.

Um, that’s just about it for the moment! Except — over the summer, I mentioned a short story type thing that I was writing. I might see about getting that online sometime soon; I haven’t done anything to it in ages, but it’s actually more complete than I first thought on reading it through again. Plus, I’ve had another idea for a short story which I think I’m going to pursue…

  • Right

Nothing much really to update you with today, but I thought I would seeing as I’m currently sitting in a computer lab, rather bored. Today I haven’t done much. I came onto campus for my 12:00 lecture, then I did some work for two or three hours, then I went to my 4:00 lecture. How about that?

Still, at least my project is going well. I’d like to upload it, but I don’t think that would be a particularly good idea before the thing’s been marked (or at least handed in and the presentation done). I can say, however, that I currently have 13 different .java files totalling 2,375 lines of code (this is including the javadoc comments). 8 of those files are less than 100 lines. Oh, the joys of Object-Oriented Programming. I suppose my main file shouldn’t be 916 lines long if I was using OOP properly, but I don’t think there are any other ways of doing it.

Oh, and I’m also using the software provided by the Apache XML Project to validate the XHTML documents that I’m using. Still, it’s all good fun! I’m quite happy with the way it’s going, actually – I’m spending a lot more time than I thought I would on just doing the little things, but it is all coming together and beginning to look like an application that wasn’t made by a total amateur.

Anyway, that’s enough random waffle for the moment. I’ll update again at some point at an unspecified time…

  • Just to update you…

My computer went down on Monday evening (Hard Disk problems), so I haven’t been able to update I’m afraid. Anyway, I’ve been fairly busy since then so I haven’t really got around to actually fixing it. I do apologise to those who read this blog for not updating… however, I’m sure that you can understand – computers going down are never the easiest things to deal with!

Today was Philippa’s birthday, by the way. I spent some time with her, which was cool 🙂 We went to Pizza Hut with Alex, Richard and Ian for lunch, and then to Waffles this evening.

Uh, and that’s just about it for now…

  • The rest of the weekend, and Monday morning

Thought I’d update this blog before going on to chaplaincy lunch! I’m currently sitting in csclab5, reading up about the Apache XML Project — looking for an XHTML validator that’s already been written so I don’t have to write one. I’d rather not have to write one myself; I don’t think I’ve got the time! Not with testing and everything…

Anyway. Yesterday, I went to Fordham in the morning. Then I went home and had lunch. Then I spent most of the afternoon doing scripty-type things with Phil P. Then I watched some Futurama with Alex. Then Philippa came round, we ordered a pizza and watched “The Parole Officer” and “101 Dalmations” (the live action version).

This morning, I came onto campus for 12:00 to do some work on my project, and now I’m going to go to chaplaincy lunch and then to my robotics lab. It’s all good fun…

  • Lots to say

But I don’t have much time to write. I went to see the German Play, it really was very good! Philippa looked good as the dog (and yes, that is supposed to be a compliment…) I didn’t understand much of it, but a lot of the humour was quite visual, not just verbal. Or involving linguistical vocalisation, of which my understanding left a lot to be dessicated.

I went to CU. I’ve done some work. I’ve, uh, been for random drinks in the bar with people. Uh, not really much else to say…

On Wednesday I went to see ‘Scary Movie 3’ with Philippa in town. I quite enjoyed it, although I don’t think it was as good as the previous two. Then onto Fusion… only four people there (me, Paul, Ben and Andy H) but I think it was probably one of the best discussions that we’ve had in a Fusion group!

Anyway. Friday I didn’t do all that much (work and lectures and watching DVDs and stuff)… today, I’ve mainly been doing the ‘Phil’ radio show, and then coming back and chatting with Philippa and having dinner and this evening it’s Sarah and Jon’s engagement party. That doesn’t win the prize for the longest sentence in my blog ever, but… well, it doesn’t really win anything. To be honest, I have to make a real effort to top myself in stupidity when it comes to my blog. There’s not much to say…

    Bye now!

  • Another Update

Haven’t got much to update you on. I didn’t meet up with Philippa yesterday, as the German Play rehearsal went on for a bit longer than expected, and she was fairly tired afterwards! I did, however, get some of my theology seminar planned, which was good. Then I, uh, chatted for a while, then went to bed.

This morning I went onto campus, did my DJing stint in Mondo for an hour at 1:00. That went pretty well, apart from having to keep it fairly quiet! Alex, Philippa and Paul came down. Alex and Paul had to go before I finished, but afterwards I stayed and had a drink with Phil for a bit. Then down to my Mobile Robots lab… I don’t know why, but I feel a bit better about it than I did last week. Perhaps it was because the GTA was actually teaching us stuff about Aria that we actually needed to know (Aria is the robot simulator and programming type software thingy).

Anyway. Then I went back to Mondo with Philippa, Alex and Gemma. And then I went to Tesco with Alex, then came back home…

Not much to say! There is one thing, though… the past few days I’ve been working on a little piano piece. I actually quite like it… it’s very short though! Download the MP3 if you want to have a listen. I haven’t put any dynamics in yet, it’s still a work in progress – but see what you think. As for the name, Matthew said that I ought to try writing a Sonata… this isn’t a Sonata, but it’s based around a pattern of sorts, so I decided to call it: “Sultana in Sea Shanty” (mentally insert the sound of comedy drums here).

Any comments, drop me a line 🙂

  • Quick update

Right. Friday… went onto campus for 11:00, stayed in lectures and classes until about 3:00, then went home. Didn’t really do much in the evening, Anne-Marie, Esther and Philippa and Ian came round and we chatted about ‘bin 39’ (more on that some other time).

Yesterday, I went on a day away with the committee (put on by the chaplaincy). It was really good, time just to spend smoe time with God, just to reflect, relax and generally be quiet for a while! I think it did me good. Got home about 6:00ish… Anne-Marie and Philippa came round, and we chatted and stuff.

Today, I went to Fordham this morning as per usual. Then I went round to Simon and Phil B’s place for the Crossring meeting. It went well actually, although it wasn’t a very short meeting it did go quite quickly. Oh, and here’s a picture of the Crossring team:

Anyway, I think now I’m going to go to the bar, hang around there for a while, and I’m meeting Philippa at 8:00 and then doing, I don’t know, maybe the quiz or something. It’s all good…
