  • New Week…

Been a bit busy! I’m so happy that for a second year running, I’m on campus all day on a Tuesday. 9:00 lecture in the morning, then a 1:00 and a 4:00, followed by CU in the evening. Still it wasn’t too bad. Saw Joe, Alex and Philippa in the bar for a bar breakfast in the morning, then Lindsey and Andy H in Mondo for a hot chocolate, then my lecture, then down ot the chaplaincy for a couple of hours, then my next lecture, then up to 4N.6.1 to set up for CU (I spent about half an hour typing out lyrics on powerpoint because we had a projector :)) and then dinner at Sizzlers and then CU and then Top Bar and then round to Andy H’s and Gemma’s flats to listen to Monty Python Sings… and then home with Welsh Phil and Alex.

    So now you know.

  • The Weekend

Yesterday, I went in for Fresher’s fair. It was pretty good… 54 people (or thereabouts) signed up for CU. That was pretty cool. I did a half an hour set for the radio station, went well apart from the fact that the needle skipped very easily if you trod too hard! And, of course, there was more than one person on the stage at some points and they didn’t quite realise this fact at first. Oh well. I also met a guy who I’ve chatted to a bit on MSN (Milo), also into prog house kind of stuff and a DJ. And saw Mark Eteson again (another DJ I met from the radio station).

In the afternoon I manned the CU stall for an hour or so, signed a few people up. And hung about on campus until the evening for the Quiz. That was good! Actually a very well run quiz, all credit to Phil P and Esther who wrote the questions and were the quizmasters. Apart, of course, from three out of the ten questions of the sports round having to do with Rugby!

Then this morning I went to Fordham as usual. Stayed on for a harvest lunch afterwards. That was cool, I really enjoyed it! The lunch was lovely and I got to know a few more faces a little bit better as well. Then I came home, where I’ve been since…

  • Finally!

Well. That was a good day. I will try and be brief, because I’m fairly tired, but… this morning I went in to the free lunch. It was pretty cool, quite a few people came along. Mostly postgrads again! But still it was good. Then after that I came back home. Didn’t do much this afternoon… played the odd game of Populous with Ash and Alex.

Then onto campus for cheesy tunes in the new-look Level 2! It does look very nice. Unfortunately, it was packed out. I don’t think you can expect anything else really in Fresher’s week, but it was very busy. There was hardly any space on the dancefloor — not enough room to swing an armadillo, let alone a cat. They did play some very cheesy music though, which was good! I left at around 11:30, walked home with Paul and went round to his place for a bit.

Anyway, I’d better go now as I have to be up for Fresher’s fair tomorrow. Not particularly early, but up nonetheless!

    Au revoir…

  • Near the end of Fresher’s Week now!

… and I’m glad. Hasn’t been a bad week, just busy. This morning I spent a while chatting to Rich on the phone (Rich as in the guy from the DJ workshops). I had sent him a copy of my demo earlier this week, and he quite liked it!

Then it was lunch, then onto campus to register. Ah, registration! How fun. Still, my student loan has come through OK so I am now out of the red 🙂 After registration I met Andy H and Lyndsey and Charlotte (some new freshers) and we went up to Top Bar to play pool for the afternoon. Paul came along, as well as Alex and his ex-flatmate (although they weren’t with us per se). So that was a good afternoon!

Then Sizzlers for dinner, then to Meet the CU. That went quite well, met a few new people. Met Anna Hunter (or is it Turner? Can’t remember…) who emailed me about the CU a while ago. And a few other people as well. Not many Freshers came, but it was a good time!

Anyway. Prayer & Praise tomorrow in the morning, followed by a Free Lunch. Not doing anything in the afternoon, then Cheesy Tunes (yay!) in the evening. Good day! 🙂

  • Today’s events

This morning, we (as in, everyone from our house except Ash) went onto campus for bag carrying. It wasn’t exactly the most succesful event we’ll ever do… I don’t think many people were moving in today! There was hardly anyone moving in at all! Ah well. We tried! So after that resounding unsuccess, we went down to the world cafe which went much better. I suppose around 30 new students came. Most of them were postgraduates and international, but there were one or two home students and undergrads. It was good!

After that, we had a committee meeting which just seemed to drag on interminably. I suppose I must have been tired… it wasn’t good! But eventually it finished. I met Phil, Alex, Philippa and a couple of the new students (Hayley and Andy H) in Top Bar for a quick drink, then headed into Wivenhoe to get fish and chips.

Then we watched some Dr Who, and now I’m writing this blog. Days condense amazingly when you type them out like this, don’t they? 🙂

  • Freshers and Stuff

That’s right! It’s fresher’s week here at Essex University. This morning I got up, and went in for 10:30 to do bag carrying. This is basically an idea that the CU had, of going round and helping people to move in. It’s a good way of meeting people… I helped to move three or four. Good opportunity to invite people to the world cafe tomorrow!

Anyway. Did bag carrying from about 10:30 – 12:00, then went to a computer lab, then paid some money into the bank, then met with Louise in Top Bar to discuss Fusion, then came home and had lunch and have just watched a couple of early Pixar animated shorts.

Ah, I’ve missed the hectic uni lifestyle 😉

  • We have the internet!

Yay! The router arrived this morning. We now have the internet at home. That is good news, is it not? Anyway. I can’t update much, so I’ll hopefully post something later.

    See you then…

  • Yes, I know… no updates!

I know I haven’t been updating much! The reason being, broadband was activated on Wednesday but unfortunately we couldn’t access it because the router was faulty. D’oh! Anyway, I sent it back, have the refund (or should have soon), ordered another one (from a company that isn’t staffed by monkeys) and hopefully it should arrive on Monday.

I’ll update then, but I probably won’t have much to say! Oh well…

  • The last few days

Stuff happened. I went to the Rose & Crown. Zoe came up for the weekend. So did Foz and Andy B, so I saw them. We should be getting broadband tomorrow (assuming BT flip a switch, dunno why it’s taken this long…)

Normal service will be resumed once I have internet access at home. I’m afraid I haven’t been posting very much, mainly because I’ve only been online for short periods of time. I’ve bought some records as well, but I haven’t posted them up on my Record Collection page because I haven’t been online much… you can see how bad it’s been 😉

Anyway. I shall hopefully post something up tomorrow, if not then you can safely assume BT are getting an earful from me complaining!

  • Update

Very quick update… I’ve been a bit more busy the past few days but haven’t got the time to talk about it! Basically just chatting with Phil, Sarah and Suzi (who have all moved in now), Joe, watching DVDs, going to the pub, and stuff.

Zoe is coming up to stay for the weekend. As is Foz, but he’s not staying in our house (he’s staying with Joe apparently). Also Andy B is around this weekend… busy busy!

It’s cool to be back. I’m enjoying it here 🙂 Anyway, must dash — will hopefully update again soon. After the weekend probably…
